Cruzer 1,995 Posted April 26, 2006 Played in a tournament last week: free beer all day, free cigars, free entry - then afterwards more free beer and a 3200 lb. crawfish boil. I bet they must have piled 3 pounds of mud bugs on my tray - it was amazing. If anybody ever has a chance to play in a Louisiana Crane Co. golf tournament - do it. jerryskids 6,960 Posted April 26, 2006 Oh yeah? I got to play in a charity tourney last week in which I paid a lot of money, then afterwards they had an auction where I spent a LOT of money. Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 26, 2006 Played 36 this past saturday. Shot pretty well on the middle 18....actually hit the ball well all day...putting still sucks. Smallish greens that were rock hard...but longer on the grass...so you could not get much to check up...but they were very slow for putting...and I hate slow greens. The Ping G2, 3 wood, and both rescues were rocking though. Putting the ball very nicely in play each hole really...rarely getting into trouble. Some decent approach shots and the 7 iron was working it well.
George Carlin 1 Posted April 26, 2006 oh and I got my 1st career Birdie last night on a 330 yard downhill par 4. I hit the rescue club about 275 and then chipped a sand wedge to within 3 feet. Downhill and it was very windy.
Ravens 03 0 Posted April 26, 2006 My 20 handicap-ass played Monday in a Chamber of Commerce scramble and finished +2 with 3 guys that didn't know which end of the club to hold. My 2nd time out - those batsages were heavy. Beat that!
mulletia 0 Posted April 26, 2006 does the rescue take the place of fairway woods?
Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 26, 2006 does the rescue take the place of fairway woods? Some can. I have the 19 degree and 22 degree Taylor Made Rescue Mid. The 22 is really between my 3 and 4 iron in distance and has basically replace them. The 19 is just a bit more than my 3 iron and if really hit well will be up there with or above a 5 wood as well. I can swing much more agressively with them than the long irons and get a higher ball flight than a 3 iron or 5 wood. I had a 16 degree for a while but did not get a good feel for it and sold it. Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 26, 2006 I need a new 3 wood. Anyone here hit the Nike Ignite T60, Great Big Bertha II or anything else in that $150 price range? I hit a Ping G2 that I picked up for $150 used at a golf galaxy. Check Ebay...find a driver you like the feel of...do not worry as much about which kind...and either find one with a good shaft in it...or get a good shaft put in it. (and have someone analyze your swing to help pick the right shaft too). Wait...I missed the 3 wood part. What are you looking for out of the 3 wood? Something for off the tee? Fairways? I love Callaway fairway woods. Love the Steelhead III, and now love the Steelhead Plus that I am playing now. Steel shaft is my preference in those (cannot recall which shaft I even have in mine now). I have not hit the GBBII. I had a Great Big Bertha 3 that I hit for a while...was good off of the tee, but terrible for in the fairways. (though rarely do I even need to hit the 3 off of the fairways and go at greens except in scrambles). The steelhead III was probably my favorite all around. Hit well off the tee and off the turf. Oh...and the steelhead plus can be found pretty cheap on ebay...or at CallawayPreOwned.com Steelhead IIIs are a bit more...but very good clubs. Got me Steelhead plus off of ebay for $60 lightly used. Have had good luck with a vendor on there...globalgolfusa

Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 26, 2006 I have no experience with the Nike or the GBBII. Im my experience though Callaway Fairway woods feel the best and perform the best for me. Have been hearing good things about the newer Cobra woods too though.

(150 max) Best score ever on a par 72 : 82 Average score on a par 72 : 90 or so The club / course I was a member at (Roseville rolling greens) was a par 27 (nine holes) Total of 1500 yards, you can post your scores. (nine at a time if you want to) USGA handicapp at the best was 9.5 (only because I played that course EVERY day just about, and nowhere else.) Next time I'm there, I'll take a picture of a couple of the plaques that I'm on. Can't hit a wood of any kind to save my life, but I am very good around the greens.' My 3 iron (longest club in my bag) will maybe go 200 yds on a SOLID hit. I am sure that I am not up to your level as far as skill, but the game is for fun, and I can still say / brag: I got 2 Aces.. I am sure that I am not up to your level as far as skill, HTH Sorry, it doesn't help. How did you get a USGA 9.5 with those numbers? Also, I've never gotten to a 9.5, don't play enough, so clearly you are past my level of skill. But, if you wanted to play a friendly round with a friendly side bet, I'd be up for it. I'm not that good, but I'm told that I am competitive.

Well, your basically calling me a liar, but I won't dwell on it Playing the 9 hole course all summer a few years ago..Almost every day, I was averaging around 30-34 per 9. The course actually has a fairly high slope rating to it, so you take that into consideration and it came out to be a 9.5 (one month) I'm probably going to go after work, and if I break 40 tonight (nine holes) I'll be happy. HTH Where is the BS flag for this? 1. 1500 yards for 27 holes is ridiculous. A typical 18 hole course will be 6250 yards for a rating of 70 and a slope of 125. 2. The way a USGA handicap works is that essentially 75% of your scores are going to be worse than your USGA handicap for that course. In your example, you would have to play from the black tees, on a PGA course to even come close a 9.5. An 82 (your "best" score) on a 70.5 rating, with 130 slope would only net you a 10 for a differential. Can you please rethink this info?
