SUXBNME 1,583 Posted April 27, 2006 Where is the BS flag for this? 1. 1500 yards for 27 holes is ridiculous. A typical 18 hole course will be 6250 yards for a rating of 70 and a slope of 125. 2. The way a USGA handicap works is that essentially 75% of your scores are going to be worse than your USGA handicap for that course. In your example, you would have to play from the black tees, on a PGA course to even come close a 9.5. An 82 (your "best" score) on a 70.5 rating, with 130 slope would only net you a 10 for a differential. Can you please rethink this info? 1500 yards for 9 holes... 3000 if you go around twice..I believe that is the minimum yardage course that the usga will let you post on. Also as previously stated, I only played on the short 9 hole course that summer... No BS...Honestly

Also as previously stated, I only played on the short 9 hole course that summer... No BS...Honestly My point was that the slope on that course (3,000 yards) would be less than 113, which means that you would have to shoot better than 82 in 10 out of every 20 rounds that you play to even come close to 9.5. Perhaps the printer on this crappy course could only do a single digit and you are really a 19.5. Look, there are many guys here who BS their handicaps, but this is by far the most eggregious violation of golf standards I have every seen. I will extend an even better offer than jerryskids. You can get a USGA 9.5 from me (I am a 14.6) and we will play for $1,000. OK?
SUXBNME 1,583 Posted April 27, 2006 This is the golf course . Ask the manager / owner Darrell about Chris from big - o tires.. (hole in one plaque is on the wall) He won't know about the 9.5 index (he wasn't running the place at the time, but If there is someone there named Russ Lacroix (and he usually is) He can tell you that I'm not lying. I also stated that on long courses I am the sux. If you only play on the same course and post there, do well, then you can achieve a low handicap. With a 14.4 you would kill me on a "regulation" 7200 yrd course... I'm not saying I'm good, but that 1 month when I got the card, It was a 9.5 Anyways, most of the club members lie about their handicaps the OTHER way.. Not posting the low scores... Let's see. If you play this course 20 times (which makes your handicap legal) and the slope is as it says (94) and the rating is as it says (54), then you would have to average a 66 or lower in your lowest 10 rounds. If you take your best score (82) and had that every round in your best 10, your handicap would be a 29.3. I don't care what you show me, your info just does not add up. That was not at this course, but at Mather Field GC, (a 7000yrd course)and probably not even that summer... I averaged about a 66 or better on a par 54 course... I don't think we are understanding eachother.. I think I see the misunderstanding...The rating isn't a 54, the PAR is 54... Going fishing...BBL

You said that your best score was an 82. Looking back, it appears that you said that was on a par 72 course (which this place is not). Regarding this course, are there any windmills or clown faces on this par 3 course that you are on? We call those pitch and putt here, so I cannot see how you would: 1. Admit that you play there 2. Use a USGA index that is based on such a course I don't understand why the USGA would waste their time even rating a course with those parameters. How about that bet? Ravens 03 0 Posted April 27, 2006 I've played TPC Dearborn, and Detroit Golf Club for free many many many time If I come to Detroit, can we/I play for free? I'm an 18 [on regular golf courses]. Remember - I'm part of the BB-69!!!!!

Use a USGA index that is based on such a course I don't understand why the USGA would waste their time even rating a course with those parameters. How about that bet? 1: My best score on a "real" course (Mather Field was the one I did that on) Was an 82 link (I thought it was longer) 2: Yes, Roseville Rolling Greens is what one would call a "pitch and putt" course 3: The USGA obviously recognizes them because they gave it a rating 4: All I was saying is that one summer a few years ago, when I got my card (for that month) it said that my index was a 9.5 5: This does not mean that I could / can play to a 9.5, because I know I cant. I posted all of the scores that summer at Rosville Rolling Greens, (which was the only coure I played at to the best of my knowledge right now) and that is what USGA gave me on my card. 6: The bet??? Fock that.. If you ever come to the Sacramento area I would love to play with you, jerryskids, anyone. Will I beat you? Doubt it...Who the fock cares..It's all about golf, friends, beer, scenery, and the occasional hot women who need / want lessons..(more than golf on occasion....or so I'm told) 7: I do play for money..(I couldn't think of playing someone without a bet) But $1000.00 ? Way out of my league.. The course hole by hole: 1: 192 yrd 2: 131 3: 145 4: 120 5: 237 (downhill) 6: 226 (uphill) 7: 183 8: 158 9: 138 Yes, to some it is a "pitch and putt"..To me it was my home away from home.. Is it so hard to believe that someone could post 30-34 (nine hole) scores on a regular basis there if they are not bad golfers? I understand that all this crap started from me saying that one month my USGA card said I had a 9.5 index. Actually, it started from me telling jerryskids that I have had 2 aces in my golf career..(which he doesn't believe) I don't know why I care this much..I guess I don't want to be labled a "liar" in here... Anyways...Thanx for reading...I think I will now go cry myself to sleep..

BunnysBastatrds 2,537 Posted May 18, 2012 Since the search engine in this place sucks bawls, I found this thread to share. I've been playing golf for 18 years now. Two years ago I used to play at least twice a week. Now I'm lucky if I get to play once a week on the weekends. I'm an 18 handicap when not playing and 12 when I get out twice a week. I've never had an ace and have only one eagle in the bag . Called a buddy of mine on Wednesday and decided to go play at 5:00 after work. Figured we'd get at least 15 in before dark. i was playing decent. Mostly bogeys and a few pars. I got to the 11th hole and chugged a beer a lit asmoke. It's a 140 yard par three with a bunker and a mound guarding the front and you can't see the green from the tee box. I hit the smoothest 9 iron i've ever hit. Ball was tracking right at the flag. I couldn't see the ball but I knew it was good. The other guy hit and and I was high stepping it toward the green like a little kid. I hit it to two inches left of the cup. So close but yet so far away.
