Portis26 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Steelers wont take a RB at 32 -- they are gonna give the Bettis role to Duece this year... they need a Free Safety
murf74 461 Posted April 29, 2006 Steelers wont take a RB at 32 -- they are gonna give the Bettis role to Duece this year... they need a Free Safety Steelers brought in free safety Ryan Clark. It is not a necessary position, but a position that will probably be addressed in the first 3 rounds. I think Steelers just chose the best safety, RB or WR on the board but will not reach cause there is no glaring problem.

I forgot about Clark - and he was a Skin last year - he blows alot of open field tackles, but is pretty steady overall

murf74 461 Posted April 29, 2006 Nick Mangold if he's there. For some reasons Steeeler have been paying Chucky Okoby a good penny to stay as a backup and just redid his contract. They may think they already have a future center, but I would rather have Mangold than Chucky for the future.
Steel City Blues 0 Posted April 29, 2006 The GOOD FIT to our system is White. He ain't lookin too bright in interviews and off the field, but he does have special ability as a RB. (vision, football instincts, piston drive) I don't see the Steelers passing on him if he falls to 32. Plus, our team is iffy at this position if FWP goes down. White could carry the load if needed. At least we have the luxury of taking the BPA when our pick comes. It's good to be the Champs!!! I'm headed to Heinz Field today for the draft day festivities. Enjoy the draft guys. I don't think White has a chance with Pittsburgh because of the news that he failed a drug test. Pittsburgh won't tolerate someone with a drug problem or bad moral character. Failed drug tests are not covered up leading to the draft, they are exposed ala Sapp.

You guys just can't let it go. Waaaaay too defensive. I don't blame you, as I would have trouble sleeping at night with a fraud win in a Super Bowl too. It's incredibly easy to push Steelers fans buttons.

murf74 461 Posted April 29, 2006 The Giants kind of raped the Steelers there. Well, the last pick in the 3rd round and the last pick in the 4th round when we had 3 forth rounders. To the Steelers we only gave up the last pick in the 3rd round cause there was no way we were gonna use all 3 of the 4th rounders. If you use the NFL Draft Trade Value Point Chart it was a pretty even trade. Giants 25th pick being worth 720 Steeler 1st 3rd and 4th is worth 590, 116, 44. which equals
Thin Spirit 0 Posted April 29, 2006 You guys screwed up by not grabbing one of them. You keep thinking that.
dave32 14 Posted April 29, 2006 Wow, the Steelers WR corp seems pretty freaking solid now. And to those questioning whether it was worth it, of course it was. The Steelers don't have that many glaring holes, the only position that could be considered a need was at WR, and we got the best one of the draft. Safety could have been a possibility, but DBs are flying off the board. Not to mention we still have two 4th round picks, and we're pretty much drafting for depth and the future now. There are not many roster spots open at all. They were not going to draft 10 players cause there are no roster spots open. When you have the chance to get the best WR in the draft (even if it is a weaker year), you just do it. And the Steelers have filled their kick returner spot with this pick too. Lets review the Steeler 1st round history: 2003 Steelers get best safety in the draft (by performance so far) 2004 Steeelers get best QB in the draft (by performance so far) 2005 Steelers get best TE in the draft (by performance so far) 2006 Steelers get highest rated WR in the draft
titan20 0 Posted April 29, 2006 I think Holmes is a good pick, at first seems like we spent a lot but it was pretty much two fourth rounders.
