Orgazmo 2 Posted April 28, 2006 Leinart falls into the Raiders lap Who holds out for #2 money, and has a four year career (shortened by concussions) and retires to be a surf shop owner.
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 Leinart having a career that is 4 years or fewer is more likely than Leinart falling to the Raiders. The Raiders will most likely be looking at six of the following eight players with the 7th pick: A.J. Hawk, Broderick Bunkley, Haloti Ngata, Jay Cutler, Michael Huff, Vernon Davis, Vince Young, Winston Justice

t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 Ok Raiders fans! Let's see your draft board for the Raiders pick at 1.07, if you were in the war room! 1-6 (ignoring Mario Williams) Here's mine: 1. Reggie Bush 2. D'Brickashaw Ferguson 3. Matt Leinart 4. Haloti Ngata 5. Winston Justice 6. A.J. Hawk Anyone other than these six and I'll be real disappointed. If it's Young or Cutler, I'll be disappointed, but excited nonetheless.
Orgazmo 2 Posted April 29, 2006 5. Winston Justice6. A.J. Hawk Wow dude. Why so down on Hawk?
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 Wow dude. Why so down on Hawk? Down? Top seven is pretty darned appreciated for an OLB if you ask me.
Orgazmo 2 Posted April 29, 2006 Down? Top seven is pretty darned appreciated for an OLB if you ask me. True, but it seems like fans have been rabid for defense and you have him behinf Justice. Not knocking, just intrigued.
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 True, but it seems like fans have been rabid for defense and you have him behinf Justice. Not knocking, just intrigued. Firstly, positional importance aside, I think Justice is just as good a player as Hawk. The defense is weaker than the offense, yes, but you can only address one position with one pick, so personally I don't like to get too wrapped up in offense vs defense with the pick. OT is a huge need, just like OLB is. Both positions are fairly deep in the draft but I think OT is more important, which favors Justice. I can't stand Barry Sims and they need to end that experiment. The only way I'm not upset with our OT situation next year (without Justice) is if Gallery moves to LT and Langston Walker moves back to RT (as I've heard rumored) and miraculously fulfills his potential there. At OLB I see a lot more potential solutions. There should still be a quality year-1 starter at OLB in the second round, so I don't mind passing on Hawk. The Raiders actually need more than one starting OLB so I wouldn't mind if they spend two picks on OLB between rounds 2-4 and then let those guys fight Sam Williams (and Kirk Morrison if the Raiders fail to realize he's a MLB) for the 2 starting OLB spots. Part of that rumor going around about the Raiders trading for Leinart mentioned the notion of being able to keep Gallery on the right to protect him. Thought that was an interesting angle. How's Gallery performed on the right side?

Thought that was an interesting angle. How's Gallery performed on the right side? Personally I like how Gallery has performed on the right side, although he is probably better suited to the left side (based on the type of DEs you see on the right vs the left) because he is very athletic but not super-strong. If they brought in Leinart, it might make sense to keep Gallery at RT, it would be interesting then to see how defenses would approach Gallery and Sims/Walker/whoever. DaveJ 0 Posted April 29, 2006 The board... Bush Young Huff Hawk I don't go farther because one of those will be there at 7.
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 I don't go farther because one of those will be there at 7. I don't need to ask why Young over Leinart, because that debate's been done a million times. But suffice it to say, unless the Raiders grab Hawk, one of us is going to be unhappy tomorrow. Although I could live with Huff.
Raider 84 29 Posted April 29, 2006 Raiders lookin good already!!!!!!!!! I'd like to see V Davis tearind up the Cheifs, Broncos, and Chargers this season!!!!!!!! My gut tells me they go QB though.
Nichee 0 Posted April 29, 2006 I'm hoping that VY and Leinart are gone by the time we pick. Also hoping we don't move up cuz we need the picks, imo. Got my heart set on A.J. Hawk, but realize he'll likely be gone. Fingers crossed. I like Huff as a backup plan, but my gut tells me Al likes Vernon Davis. He seems like a "Raider" pick. I recall an Al quote at the end of last year, saying that we need to score more. That leads me to believe the TE is the pick. We will see. Love the draft !!! Ignition Technition 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Vince Young to Tenn with #3 seems the hot rumor now. Could throw a spanner in Al Davis plans. maybe Leinart in silver and black? personally i think we need to look at Ngata or Huff if hawk is gone to GB, a QB can wait. DanXIII 8 Posted April 29, 2006 Looks like Leinart to Oakland unless Al Davis is completely senile.

Swagger 0 Posted April 29, 2006 My how things change...last year 2005 Leinert would have gone #1. Now he is #7 at least maybe even further, it is analysis paralysis. He has been picked apart and thrown to the curb as a QB that was part of a very talented system....Leinert a Cardinal?
dirty dug 0 Posted April 29, 2006 As a Trojan I would LOVE to see Leinart in silver and black, but I hope they draft Michael Huff, who I think is the best player in the draft for the Raiders.
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 As a Trojan I would LOVE to see Leinart in silver and black I think Leinart would actually like it as well. On Sirius yesterday they asked him if there was anywhere he would like to go, he said it would be nice to be in San Diego or the west coast in general, but no worries because it's out of his control. I'm sure it would be appealing to him to be a two hour flight from SoCal. But should that kind of extracurricular interest be a concern for the Raiders? (Probably not, bigger concern is whether he is actually a franchise talent) Boomer just said that the reports are the Raiders really aren't that interested in Leinart. On Sirius this morning they were saying the Raiders have showed a heck of a lot of interest in Huff lately.

I really think we can get a big ugly for the D-line later in the draft, but Huff is a phenomenal athlete who can contribute and lead in the defensive backfield. He's what the Raiders need back there! Bill Swerski 0 Posted April 29, 2006 I can't imagine the Radiers being dumb enough to pass on Leinart at this pick.
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 I can't imagine the Radiers being dumb enough to pass on Leinart at this pick. Well, I have Leinart as the #3 guy in the draft for the Raiders (not counting Mario) and he's still available so I'm for it. I think if they were enamored with Young, though, right now they are probably thinking, "Leinart sure isn't Young..."

I think they were locked in on Huff or Davis as the pick and now have to consider Leinart. Matt doesn't have the big arm the Raiders usually look for but come on, the kid is a franchise QB and a winner. Whatever, this has been a massively entertaining draft this year.
