phillybear 366 Posted April 29, 2006 Darryl Tapp in RD.2 and I'm 2 for 2. Dude, talk me off the ledge. I can't handle this Ruskell 'I am smarter than you" attitude. He makes one good pick last year (Tatupu), and takes the guy way early. I am chewing on my fingers right now. Trade down if you like someone.
crocodilecj 0 Posted April 29, 2006 I would be interested to see where Ruskell has Jimmy Williams on their Board. A lot of mocks had him going in the top 15-20 overall, the best CB after Hill. Go figure.
phillybear 366 Posted April 29, 2006 Jimmy Williams is a first class turd. Be happy you don't have him. Virginia Tech always has very good talent on defense. Can you give me a thumbnail sketch on why you don't like him?

MahSoonerz 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Virginia Tech always has very good talent on defense. Can you give me a thumbnail sketch on why you don't like him? In short, he's a pompous ass. He argues with coaches, bumps refs, thinks he's the second coming of Deion Sanders. It crosses the line between selfconfidence to full blown unearned arrogance. If he couldn't buy into what Frank Beamer could do for him, then he'll have trouble being coached by anybody in the NFL.

Which means that Seattle passed on him due to character issues. You know, it can be frustrating at times to pass on talent due to personality. Are some players spoiled rotten? You bet. But all teams in all sports have to deal with egos. I just want the best players possible on the field. I want to win a championship, dammit.
phillybear 366 Posted April 29, 2006 Fine. I am sure that I will grow to like Jennings, until he makes his first bonehead play. At least Seattle took someone that can compete for a starting position this year, so that is something. Next pick: BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE, no matter what position. The plan is to get drunk, and THEN go to the bar. Saves money. Yes, I am a cheap bastage. I will probably only order seltzers, other than buying drinks for women who will ultimately reject my advances. Good times, good times.
phillybear 366 Posted April 29, 2006 Hey, we are coming up to our pick shortly. Time to compile another wish list which the front office will ignore. WHHHOOOOOO HHHHHOOOOOO!!!!
phillybear 366 Posted April 29, 2006 Best players available: TE: Leonard Pope CB: Ashton Youboty FS: Ko Simpson DT: Gabe Watson OT: Eric Winston Ko Simpson might be a possibility. But Ruskell's draft board does not resonate with reality, so I am waiting with baited breath for his next reach. Then again, looks like plenty of teams reached in the second round today. phillybear 366 Posted April 30, 2006 OK. Kopy's guy Tapp is now our draft pick. Which was the top rated DE on my board. Fine. But if you are going to pick V Tech players, why not take Jimmy Williams... Fine. Defensive line is a need, and I have been promoting a pick at Defensive line for two years now. So I cant' b1tch about this pick as much as I want to.. It was an OK pick. Even though I wanted Ko Simpson at FS. But it was an OK pick. I don't have as much to complain about this year. culboarder11 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I didnt get to see the draft. I tried recording it but that did not work so I went to nfl.com to see the draft tracker and was content when I saw they chose Kelly Jennings............. until I realized Jimmy Williams was picked a few slots later. I cannot believe they would pass up on a talent like Williams. Coming into the draft I said I would be happy if we traded up to draft him, and we didnt even take him with the 31st pick? Come on now. phillybear 366 Posted April 30, 2006 It wasn't a bad day, I guess. They took a couple of players that were not really reaches, and can possibly contribute for the upcoming year. Although better players were left on the board. It's a bit different from last year, when I was honestly angry with the decision making. This year isn't so bad. But let's see what happens the rest of the way.
phillybear 366 Posted April 30, 2006 Link to article From the Seattle newspapers.... Jennings and Tapp fit the profile Ruskell established in drafting Pro Bowl middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu in the second round a year ago. Both are known as high-character, high-energy players who have been productive despite physical traits that scared off other teams. Both players lack prototypical size for their positions The Seahawks expect Jennings to challenge for a starting job on the left side, opposite Marcus Trufant. They said his durability at Miami offset concerns about his slight frame. Jennings played part of last season with a sprained shoulder Tapp, 21, is not expected to start right away. The Seahawks expect him to join a relatively thin rotation at defensive end, working primarily on the right side for now. I am a bit concerned about this trend of taking undersized players. But both picks did fit needs. Should be interesting today, as there are a lot of good players left in this somewhat deep draft. No sixth round pick, but we have two 7s. Kopy 570 Posted April 30, 2006 4 picks today. I would assume we take the best player available. Things to watch for I believe are. Antoher guard. I'm about sick of Wayne Hunter. How can you be a backup and always be Hurt. Plus now Willis and Ashworth would be the backup tackles. A true Guard to be a backup would be nice. I have no worries about the left side. Porkchop will do fine. But Chris Gray is in his last year. And should be gone next year. At tight end. Stevens is out through camp. Can we depend on Mili? Heller is OK. But he's a #3 blocker. I believe Mike Green and Shaunart Hart will be our backup safety's. Another guy in camp can't hurt. Especially if he can return punts and kicks. And be usefull on special teams. I've really fallen out of favor with Bannister also. Look for a punter too. Rouen will have some competition this year. G TE FS or some sort of return guy P
phillybear 366 Posted April 30, 2006 As I had a few beverages yesterday, my recollection was a bit fuzzy. But after re-reading this thread, I was impressed with Kopy predicting the picks correctly. Kopy 570 Posted April 30, 2006 As I had a few beverages yesterday, my recollection was a bit fuzzy. But after re-reading this thread, I was impressed with Kopy predicting the picks correctly. Also, apparently I have some anger issues with ESPN. Thanks. Also it's not just you. ESPN and the NFL network are both pieces of crap as far as I'm concerned. The 2 biggest things I noticed. When ESPN switched to ESPN 2. During Seattle's 2nd round pick. They weren't quick enough to go back to Seattle. They didn't talk about Seattle at all. Could just be a victim of bad timing. Even so, what else is new. Number 2. Chris Berman was joking around with everyone else on the panel. Throwing around a towel or something. Said something like wanting to make seattle feel at home. Obviously a superbowl reference. And very unprofessional.

Could just be a victim of bad timing. Even so, what else is new. Ah, so that is why I initially missed who Seattle took in the second round. Basically, they blew off Seattle for BOTH of their picks. This happens every year to the point that it can't be accidental. I guess the plan is looking for teams that they can shortchange to run their features and interviews. But why they don't rotate that, instead of picking on the same team(s) every year is beyond me. It's just become soooo obvious lately. Also, I hope they focus on the offensive line in the 4th round.
