Reverend Cleophus James 0 Posted May 27, 2006 I've started to replace the wallpaper in an attic room in my house. But to put up the new wallpaper on the slanted walls of the attic, I'd need to make a plumbing line. How would I do that if the wall is slanted in? Would you have a suggestion? I'd appreciate it as always. Thanks
jerryskids 6,799 Posted May 27, 2006 I suspect that the condensation drain line from my AC unit is clogged. It is a fairly narrow pipe, I can't really snake it. Is this a job for a plumber or an AC dood? TIA

jerryskids 6,799 Posted May 27, 2006 One cup of bleach down the drain. Fixored. It goes up from the air handler then down, via a pump. I've proven the pump is working. But I wonder if I would fock up the pump if I filled it with a solution including drano or something...
bob_probert_2000 1 Posted May 27, 2006 Master bedroom shower backs up to our master closet. We have a leak and it is wetting the carpet in the closet. I will have to cut through the wall to expose plumbing. What's your best guess..shower head or cartridge for on off? I want to minimize my drywall efforts. I would think replacing the cartridge would be the first try.

Check all of the plates around the faucet and controls to make sure they are sealed. I had that problem years ago. Luckily it was a new build and under warranty. That takes care of the junk that builds up.

I do not know much about HVAC.

It could be the shower head, It could be coming from the valve. Hell, it could be a drain problem. My best guess is the shower head. I don't know without looking at it. Sorry. SUXBNME 1,503 Posted May 27, 2006 I will try to answer all questions. Even my meeting with sawilson. How do you get that perfect crack showing when you bend over? Is it something you have to practice, or do they teach you that in plumbers school?

Man, spotted is oodles of help, glad he posted this thread. This is good advice. Sometimes the water will leak through the tub/shower trim. Put a thin coat of tub and tile caulk around the trim. drobeski 3,061 Posted May 27, 2006 Want to move the washer and dryer directly above where they are in the basement, to the first floor half bath. House is 2x6 construction and it is an outside wall. spottedowl 1 Posted May 27, 2006 How do you get that perfect crack showing when you bend over?Is it something you have to practice, or do they teach you that in plumbers school? The local cable company teaches a class. Funny, I am the only plumber that can work for a local management company because I have never exposed my ass crack. I would try to run the water line inside to minimize freezing temps. BTW, I had to repair an apartment complex that ran water lines on the exterior wall. It was very expensive for them to have me visit them.
hamster_13 0 Posted May 27, 2006 Our dishwasher floods the kitchen everytime we use it. We have used a few pipe cleaning products, but it still does it. We think it might be because the drain pipes are not big enough to support the amount of water that comes from it. Ideas?

spottedowl 1 Posted May 27, 2006 Our dishwasher floods the kitchen everytime we use it. We have used a few pipe cleaning products, but it still does it. We think it might be because the drain pipes are not big enough to support the amount of water that comes from it. Ideas? Your drain line is probably 1 1/2 in diameter and that is a common size for a kitchen line. What happens when you fill the sink up with water and drain it? Do you have a garbage disposal? Something easy to try is...put a bucket below the trap under the sink. remove the pee trap and see if it is clogged. There should be a piece that goes into the wall called the 'waste arm'. If you can remove that, you should check that also. In Australia, does water really swirl down the drain in the opposite direction? Yes. Why are you bugging me with stupid questions? swamp dog 0 Posted May 27, 2006 finished basement. natural gas/hot water heat. in one of the rooms--pretty much in the center of the room--there is a wet spot on the carpeting of about 4' x 4' (it's been there awhile as a book sitting on the floor on top of the wet spot has major mold on it). --there is no wet spots/leak marks in the ceiling above it. --there is no wet spots/leak on any wall anywhere in the basement --there is no wet spots/leak under any of the wall radiators (and all of those are far away from this wet spot anyway). --the carpet all around this one, particular spot is completely dry. --nothing was spilled on the carpet and left. so what's the problem? got me stumped.
