If you could see your favorite band

Recommended Posts

Frank Zappa & The Mothers 'One Size Fits All'

Limited to the realm of the living I'll say:

David Bowie (with the appropriate era band) 'The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders from Mars'

Already saw Brian Wilson perform 'Smile!', so I can die a happy man.

Hum: You'd Prefer An Astronaut

Radiohead: Pablo Honey

John Denver: Just to see him would be enough-- no specific album

Bob Marley: See note about John Denver

Toad The Wet Sprocket: Any album. Pick one-- they're all superb

Ryan Adams: Stone Roses (my selection for somethign more modern)

FYI-- I'm seeing Toad The Wet Sprocket June 15th. They're doing a smattering of reunion shows.

Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

Would have loved to see the Stones on their 1972 tour. They were at the peak of their popularity and had this killer album to play

I agree with you on Toad. Fear is a top-ten album for me.

I happened to see John Denver about a year before he died. It was a small ampitheatre in New Jersey. He was very entertaining. Told humorous stories between songs.

OK, no cheating.

1) I would have payed just about anything to have been in the audience with Nirvana Unplugged was taped.

1) Same for Metallica S&M.

2) Radiohead - OK Computer

3) System of a Down - Toxicity

4) White Stripes - Elephant

:o

Nirvana - Unplugged

Not my favorite band, but a Doors concert would be cool. Especially in a small venue like when they played at the Wiskey a GoGo.

Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsys

Jimi finally gets a legitimate bass player and a decent drummer.

Will be seeing Dark Side of the Moon during the Roger Waters show in September (not quite Pink Floyd, but oh well). Hmm, one album in its entirety...Aenima could be fun, Temple Of The Dog would be great just for Cornell/Vedder...maybe 2112 also.

Saw them on that tour, Philly Spectrum, as i remember it, Mick Taylor was playing lead for them then...a really good show.

My choice would be another i really saw, 1970, The Who doing Tommy and other assorted eardrum breakers..........Keith Moon accounted for, John Entwistle ever present stage left, the instruments destroyed at the end of the set. Live rock didn't get any better.

Beatles, Abbey Road

Did this thread really have 39 responses before The Fab Four even got MENTIONED? Damn whippersnappers.

Abbey Road is an excellent choice because of diversity, the relative (as Beatle songs go) sparse radio airplay many of the songs receive, the band matured and was going b@lls out while recording the album and best of all; it's The Beatles.

I would love to hear these six without a doubt. I caught soundgarden live right before they broke up so I got most of Superunknown (incredible)

Bruce Springsteen--Greetings From Asbury Park NJ

Jimmy Cliff--Anything would do.

Red Hot Chili Peppers--Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Soundgarden--Superunknown

Rage Against the Machine--RATM

Alice In Chains--Dirt

The next three were in contention for my #1 choice but I had to go with my #1 favorite album of all time (although these are 1A, B, and 1C). I listed what I thought would be the highlights of the shows.

The Doors--The Doors

"Break on Through

"The Crystal Ship"

"Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)"

"Light My Fire"

"Back Door Man"

"The End"

Pink Floyd--Wish You Were Here

Originally, the album was to consist of three songs that the band had been playing live over the previous two years: "Shine On", "Gotta Be Crazy" and "Raving and Drooling." "Shine On" was preserved as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", while Roger Waters decided to drop the other two, which later became, respectively, "Dogs" and "Sheep" on the Animals album.

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts I-V"

"Wish You Were Here"

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI-IX"

Animals woulda went great along with WYWH in one long show.

Led Zeppelin--Led Zeppelin(1)

1. Good Times, Bad Times

2. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You

3. You Shook Me

4. Dazed and Confused

7. Communication Breakdown

8. I Can't Quit You Baby

9. How Many More Times (This song woulda been the highlight of the show imo)

AND THE WINNER IS..........

The Grateful Dead--Wake of the Flood

This is my favorite record of all time and I would pay huge $$ to be able to see this played live. It would also be very cool to have Bruce Hornsby and Branford Marsalis sitting in.

"Half-Step, Mississippi Uptown Toodeloo"

"Let Me Sing Your Blues Away"

"Jimmy Row" (Would love to hear Jerry alive and jammin on this one)

"Stella Blue"

"Here Comes Sunshine"

"Eyes of the World"

"Weather Report Suite"

"Prelude"

"Part I"

"Part II {Let It Grow}" This would have to close the show and no doubt would be the highlight.

RIP Jerry.
