Moz's 2006 Rankings ! QB's , RB's , WR's

Recommended Posts

QB's

1. Peyton Manning - No brainer

2. Tom Brady - starting to become the FF ofrce that he already was as an NFL QB the last 5 years !

3. Carson Palmer - Despite his injury I still rank him really high as I think he is starting week 1 ! If healthy move Palmer to # 1B

4. Donovan McNabb - McNabb was a top QB without Owens and with even sh!ttier wr's ! I think He uses his running more and becomes a dual threat again.

5. Matt Haselbeck - Has decent WRs not great but ussually puts up really solid stats - he won't win a league but he will win you a few games on his own..

6. Marc Bulger - If healthy move to 4 - only issue is he cannot seem to play all 16 games. When he is playing there is few better.

7. Eli Manning - Lil Brother makin good in NFL.. Not really Peyton ( yet ) but has solid weapons and looks to improve even more this season !

8. Daunte Culpepper - IF healthy he's actually even better than just #8 ! He has a solid WR in Chambers and other emerging WR's on that team and a rock solid running game with a great pass catching RB.

9. Brett Favre - If your league takes off for INT maybe rank him a little lower but he is still a gun slinger and will still put up some great games.

10. Jake Delhomme - Call him favre light as he likes to sling it too and has maybe the greatest home run threat in the NFL today in Steve Smith.

11. Aaron Brooks - Randy Moss can really make any QB look like a superstar when Randy is healthy !

12. Kurt Warner - With Fitzgerald and Boldin to throw to he would be higher if not for concerns Areizona will yank Warner mid season to insert Leinart if they look to be out of it !

13. Drew Bledsoe - TO makes him a top 15 QB - he is nothing special but TO is.

14. Trent Green - Former top 5 QB in 05 preseason rankings but total lack of a solid wr corps has killed his consistency needs Gonzo to be Gonzo again - if so vault him up a few slots.

15. Drew Brees - just gest it done and he has a much better WR corps than he had in San Diego

16. J. Plummer

17. B. Leftwich

18. B. Rothleisberger - ( would be higher if his status was really known )

19. B. Voleck

20. M. Brunell

21. M. Vick

22. C. Simms

23. R. Grossman

24. C. Frye

25. B. Johnson

RBs

1. Shaun Alexander - Mr. Consistent - how can you not choose a RB #1 that you know is gonna get 1500 yards ru , 17 TD's and that would be a lousy year !

2. Larry Johnson - Looked like Earl Cample incarnate last season

3. Ladanian Tomlinson - Looking to wear down a little latley but still elite !

4. Clinton Portis - After a slow start really came on strong last season and Gibbs runs the guy in the ground !

5. Edgerrin James - Arizonas O line is the only scary thing here - but the great passing game they have might create alot of holes. Only thing is those holes will close up in close and edgerrin isn't the greatest GL runner.

6. Ronnie Brown - I just think he has all the tools a elite RB needs - a GREAT reciever for a RB , power running , elite speed , ideal size , can actually block decent.

7. Tiki Barber - A little old but he still looks to be explosive and catches plenty of passes

8. Steven Jackson - Should be even better with martz gone and Faulk all but retired. look for Jackson to have a great year.

9. Lamont Jordan - 70 receptions - maybe he dropped balls but thats alot of catches for an RB and he is a solid Power runner on a team newly dedicated to power running !

10. Carnell Williams - A solid back who might lose some time on 3rd downs and at the stripe as Gruden loves to keep his backs as healthy as possible by using a GL runner at the stripe.

11. Rudi Johnson - He is a tough grinder on a team with a great offense. Nothing special about him and he comes out on every passing situation. He is opn a great etam to score though.

12. Willis McGahee - Busted last season as high selection. This year with expectations tapered a little i think he bounces back nicely and has a solid year.

13. Brian Westbrook - a PPR league king of FF ! Wont do much on the ground though he will break a few big plays he is a dynamo in the passing game and usually is a top 5 point producer among RB's in PPR leagues at seasons end asuming he actually stays healthy.

14. Kevin Jones - really didn't look awful last season just was always inujured. He is a do everything back if given a chance and I think could have a serious bounce back season/

15. Julius Jones - - If not for the looming chance Barber would be used as a GL back Julius would be in my top 12. He is a really gifted runner and if he stays healthy will put up top numbrs.

16. Chester Taylor - Still uncertianty about if he is indeed the feature back In minnesota. He is slated to be just that by the coaching staff but they have 2 other really decent backs on the Vikings as well in Moore and Fason will be intersting how it end up.

17. Jamal Lewis - could be this years SOD - all the tools to be an elite runner juts needs to get his head on stright

18. Domanick Davis - Great total RB but the guy cannot stay healthy. If healthy he is a top 10 RB but its tough to rank him there when you already know the guy is gonna miss 2 - 5 games.

19. Corey Dillon - IMO Maroney watches for the greater part this year as I think Dillon has 1 more year as the feature guy and could actually be a huge steal here.

20. Joself Addai - Indy didn't take a 1st rounder on him for him to ride pine and learn from the great Domanick Rhodes ! maybe Rhodes splits time for a few weeks early but Addai will be da man shortly after ! also a pottential PPR dynamo.

21. DeShaun Foster - PPR running back who really looked like he was about to break out during last season playoffs.

22. Ruben Droughns - The thing that scares me about him is the total lack of TDs ! ! A solid RB though just no scores at least not as of yet ! !

23. Reggie Bush - He is supposedly the rookie Icon in the NFL in 06 ! He is sharing time with another really talented back coming off an ACL in Duece - His talent is undeniable - his situation is really meh ! !

24. Willie Parker - Explosive RB who will get plenty of carries for Pittsburgh and should have another season like the season he had in 05 !

25. Warrick Dunn - Great PPR running back just not great to Get TD's - is still a solid #2 RB and a Great # 3 RB.

26. Tatum Bell - Dayne and Cobbs got me a little skeered here. I know Bell got decent talent and could be a monster ( top 10 0 if shanny lets him be the feature back.

27. Curtis Martin - Old man winter has another solid season left i the tank. i think it will be like Emmits season when he was 32/33 in Dallas - a solid 900-1000 yards and 6 - 8 TD's.

28. Kevan Barlow - Not certain he starts over Gore - He looks to have talent and SF seems to be improving - he is a good buy low canidate for 06.

29. Chris Brown - Call him Mr. Overloooked right now. he actually did pretty solid when he was healthy last season.

30. Fred Taylor - Actually is in a decent situation to have a really solid year - though he will still get pulled at the stripe . so his value is limited.

31. T Jones

32. D. McCallister

WRs

1. Randy Moss - Say whatever you wanna about how he is washed up or whatever ! Before he was injured last year he looked really good and it was playing with a sh!tty QB in Collins. I think he retakes the #1 WR throne this season ! he isn't as old as some people might think !

2. Terrell Owens - He is highly motivated and will have a great season this year !

3. Steve Smith - He is only 5'9 but he fights for the football unlike any WR I seen - his competive nature rivals that of Micheal Jordan.

4. Anqaun Boldin - Unlike most here that think Fitzgerald is the Arizona back to get I disagree and think Boldin is the greater scoring option. look at the games they played together - Boldin had greater stats and was targeted more times.

5. Torry Holt - Mr. Consistent II

6. Chad Johnson - With some Palmer unceertianty his ranking falls a little but should still have a really great year !

7. Marvin Harrison - Mr. Consistent I

8. Larry Fitzgerald - Likley not as high as most peopel got Fitzgerald ranked but still high IMO and he should have another seasojn at least close to last year !

9. Chris Chambers - looked like an all world stud to end 05 - can he maintain that ?

10. Reggie Wayne - mannign should be throwing alot more in 06 and Marvin might need a cane soon - I think Wayne might start to at least equal Marvin this year !

11. Darrel Jackson - The lone real recieveing threat in Seattle should have agreat season if healthy.

12. Santana Moss - He has had 2 awesome seasons and i think he is real thing - look for anotehr great season al be it not as great as 05.

13. Hines Ward - Would be higher but Rothleisbergers uncertainty drops him a few slots !

14. Roy Williams - Everyones favorite breakout canidate and i see why - great offensive system and all da tools - just who is throwing him the football ?

15. Donald Driver - Quietly put up great stats last year and was a top 10 WR. I see another great year.

16. Plaxico Burress - has his on again off again games - when he is on can be really special.

17. Joe Horn - With brees he should kinda bounce back though likley not enough to again be a top 10 WR.

18. Andre Johnson - Great tools but still waiting on thsi guy to really take off in FF - he alwasy has maybe 3 great games then nothing.

19. T.J. Housmanzadeh - Seems ti really benifit from CJ getting double teamed. Will continue to be a rgeat #2 WR this year and a terrific #3.

20. Javon Walker - Great down field threat - but can Plummer throw that far ? ?

21. Joey Galloway - great season in 05 but to expect another top 10 year from a 35 year old WR is asking alot - J. Smith he isn't

22. Derrick Mason - Over looked a little right now and could really be a solid #2 WR with his boy McNair.

23. Laverenues Coles - Depends on Pennington - If Penny does great He will be the beificiary.

24. Lee Evans - if this guy had a solid QB he would be really good in FF.

25. Daunte Stallworth - looked like New Orleans #1 WR last season - but was that him taking control of ts becasue Horn was injured all season ?

26. Matt Jones - Interesting Pick - looked unstopable at times last year - he gets the gamebook down he could really come into his won..

27. Deion Branch - Will put up solid al be it not gaudy numbers.

28. Drew Bennett - another intersting selection - Can he actually pick up where he left off having Voleck at QB ?

29. Jerry Porter - Alot of talent just seems to underachive a lot - he needs to be motivated to play great.

30. Mushin Muhammed - A nice talent in a system where Wrs numbers are scarce.

QB's

13. Drew Bledsoe - TO makes him a top 15 QB - he is nothing special but TO is.

 He was a top 10 fantasy QB last season without TO on his team?

not bad, but other than moss as your #1 WR, not really any surprises there. pretty standard lists.

Culpepper should be higher. Fitz lower than Boldin? I don't think so. Denny Green has man love for him.

Otherwise very solid overall. I am a Moss fan I don't think he will be that high. I don't trust him any more.

14. Roy Williams - Everyones favorite breakout canidate and i see why - great offensive system and all da tools - just who is throwing him the football ?

Great offensive system? the lions suck. mike martz might help and the change at QB (when the figure out who it's gonna be), but the lions simply could not move the chains last year. they were horrible. worse than horrible. what's worse than horrible? evil? they were an evil, evil team. yeah, they made some changes, but i think their problems run very, very deep.

I would definitely move ROY down a bit and wouldn't ever consider taking him over Plaxico - emerging QB on a playoff caliber team. not a question there.

i also think you've gotta give Rudi Johnson a little more love. the dude has averaged 11 touchdowns per year over the past 3 years. you can't say that about a lot of backs. i easily could see him busting out for 16-18 TDs in that offense if Carson Palmer is healthy (of which you said you thought would be the case).

overall though, very nice list. thanks.

bledsoe and fitz should both move up i believe. Steve smith should be ahead of moss IMO. but all in all, great thought and rankings. good analysis.

Very solid lists. Only things I noticed were that you have Culpepper a lot higher than me and I just cant put Taylor into the top 20. That basically has him going late 2nd early 3rd, which IMO is way to high.

Other than that very good lists.

Nice work Moz.

Not a bad start at all.

my comments are below in RED.

QB's

1. Peyton Manning - No brainer

2. Tom Brady - starting to become the FF ofrce that he already was as an NFL QB the last 5 years !

4. Donovan McNabb - McNabb was a top QB without Owens and with even sh!ttier wr's ! I think He uses his running more and becomes a dual threat again.

yup, McNabb is a forgotten man for many ffballers this year. I don't know exactly where he's going in Mocks/ADPs right now, but in the past he's been a fantastic pick for anyone that took him after the 3rd round.

5. Matt Haselbeck - Has decent WRs not great but ussually puts up really solid stats - he won't win a league but he will win you a few games on his own..

6. Marc Bulger - If healthy move to 4 - only issue is he cannot seem to play all 16 games. When he is playing there is few better.

13. Drew Bledsoe - TO makes him a top 15 QB - he is nothing special but TO is.

agreed with others that Drew needs to be ahead of Warner, Brooks and maybe even Favre and Delhomme.

RBs

There's a lot to like about Ronnie Brown but he is a VERY risky pick here. I don't know that I have the guts to take him this high

7. Tiki Barber - A little old but he still looks to be explosive and catches plenty of passes

Tiki has been in or near the top 3 RB is most fantasy leagues over the past 2 seasons. IMO, he belongs in a tier with Portis and Edge (just outside the big 3: SA, LJ, LT)

8. Steven Jackson - Should be even better with martz gone and Faulk all but retired. look for Jackson to have a great year.

right about here is my cutoff. It's where I consider taking Manning or an elite WR.

He is opn a great etam to score though.

agree that Rudi should be bumped up, right in front of Sjax. CIN's offense is clicking and it's only gonna' help Rudi maintain or improve his numbers

Westy was a MONSTER in the early part of last season... there were whispers that he'd be the "new Faulk"... and then the wheels fell off the Iggles. He's gonna be a nice pick this year.

I am enamored with the idea of getting BOTH Addai and Rhodes. In doing so, you will have secured the RB for arguably the most explosive offense in the NFL.

I'll let someone else draft Bush ahead of Parker and Dunn. There's always some college football nut who "overdrafts" the overhyped college rookies.

I know Bell got decent talent and could be a monster ( top 10 0 if shanny lets him be the feature back.

as usual, the DEN RB situation is a fantasy nightmare. I'll stay away unless it's Dayne in a ridiculously late round

27. Curtis Martin - Old man winter has another solid season left i the tank. i think it will be like Emmits season when he was 32/33 in Dallas - a solid 900-1000 yards and 6 - 8 TD's.

I love CuMar this year. Not because I think he's gonna' have a career year or anything even close; but because he's a legit feature RB and you can draft him in the 6th round (or later). I expect NYJ to play it close to the vest, keep themselves "in" games with defense and ball control. Curtis is a steal where he's being drafted.

31. T Jones

32. D. McCallister

33. A. Green

34. L. White

35. R. Dayne

36. F. Gore

this is a guy to keep an eye on. SF will be a forgotten team for many fantasy drafters but the 49ers are improving; their O-line is respectable.

37. L. Maroney

seeing a lot of time with the kick return teams so far. Dillon is working well with/teaching him but Dillon has stated clearly/loudly to the Boston media the he's not done playing.

18. Andre Johnson - Great tools but still waiting on thsi guy to really take off in FF - he alwasy has maybe 3 great games then nothing.

thanks for the comments

as for my Drew rankings - it's not a kcock on him - just alot of QB's in solid situations this year.

Addai is actually a guy i am targeting in rounds 4-5 as i just got a feeling he will be a great steal this year. As Indy had other needs and to take a RB in round 1 tells me Addai will be the man maybe even opening day.

On Martin I to have tempered expectation but i think a 900- 1100 yard rushing season with around 8 TD's is pretty solid for where he will be drafted and a great 3rd RB.

On Rudi and Tiki -- Rudi - its a little hard for me to rank a RB that high when he will taken out in every passing situation and whenever the bengals are playing catch up. Tiki - touigh for me to rank a back top 5 when he is going to be pulled in almost every GL situation . last year he had a few really long Tds and those are tough to predict.

Randy Moss - i agree totally - obviouslly me ranking him first. he is being drafted mid to late 2nd round right now and in 3rd in a few mocks. wow..

I disagree Moz.

There's a misconception about Tiki Barber that he isn't an effective short yardage RB and it's not true.

Perhaps it's because of the fumbling problems he had earlier in his career?

Perhaps it's because the NYG have forever been attempting to install a Thunder/Lightening type attack?

No, Tiki's no "Power Back", but neither was Marshall Faulk.

here's the yardage on Tiki scores from '05 (9 rush & 2 catch TDs, 11 total):

21, 12, 6, 16, 4, 4, 3, 4, 41, 20, 95.

Here's Tiki's 4 year Avarages:

ATT: 315 YDS: 1495 TD: 8.75

REC: 61 YDS: 541 TD: 1.5

Do you realize how STAGGERING those numbers are!!??

He AVERAGES 2000 yards a season!

sure you remember his long runs, that's because he led the NFL with 16 runs of 20+ yards! Explosiveness is a positive in my book.

The NYG's offense is only getting better and Tiki is the focal point of that offense.

IMO, Tiki has another year (or two) before age catches up to him.

It is just astounding that people still consider him to be little more than an overachieving W. Dunn, C. Garner type player. Even after putting up silly numbers, Tiki is somewhat underrated.

Randy Moss - i agree totally - obviouslly me ranking him first. he is being drafted mid to late 2nd round right now and in 3rd in a few mocks. wow..

yup.

pretty amazing really.

for those drafting in the top 3, there's serious potential (at least right now) to land one of the big 3 RBs, and then nab Harrison, and Moss on the late 2nd, early 3rd turn.

I'd be giddy if I started out my draft with LT, Harrison, Moss... :wall:

Fitz lower than Boldin? I don't think so. Denny Green has man love for him.

Last time I checked Denny Green wasn't playing QB. Green can have all the man love in the world for him, but the QB will be the one deciding who to throw the ball to.

I likd the list, you went with your own opinions instead of the consensus. Though I dont agree with somethings, I do like the originality.

Just curious as to why u have Thomas Jones so low on this list...

Is it because of his injury risk and the fact that Benson may be ready to take over or do you doubt he can put up top RB numbers?

I personally really like T Jones this year and hope to get him as a semi-value. While i wouldnt take him as my starter, i expect him to put up AT LEAST top 15 numbers by the end of the year should he stay relatively healthy...

any one else have any opinions on this?

Reggie Brown is way too low considering how high you have mcnab... of course considering how high you have westbrook you can say he's throwing most of his TD's to him.

And if that's true he'd be a top 10 back.
