Marion Barber to Get 120 Carries This Season

Recommended Posts

TSN reports Dallas Cowboys RB Marion Barber III, a fourth-round pick last season, proved very capable as a featured back when RB Julius Jones was out with an injury. Barber is a downhill runner, who maintains good pad level. He's an excellent blocker and has good hands. But he is not as elusive as Jones and has been prone to fumbles. However, HC Bill Parcells likes Barber and he's going to get at least 120 carries this season.

Very possible he might get 250 if Jones can't stay healthy.

120 carries divided by 16 games = 7.5 carries per game. Dallas averafed 30 carries per game last year. That means that Jones will still get the ball 22.5 carries pwr game if healthy. This information on Barber makes me believe Jones' value is greater than I thought.

Well, if there are any Julius Jones owners out there that still think JJ will be a viable fantasy option this year.... I have some beachfront property to sell you in Oklahoma.

All year long, JJ will break your heart, heres what will happen:

- JJ will get some touches but they will be between the 20's and will never amount to anything worthwhile.

- Barber will get Goal line carries or something awful like that.

- Owens will certainly steal some TD's from the RB corps which hurts further.

- JJ owners will need blood pressure medication by week #4, and they'll also need a REAL starting fantasy running back!

JJ frustrated me to tears last year; there's no way I'd draft this guy as anything better than a #3 RB.

Not sure exactly who is saying he will get more than 120 carries, but I would say 120 is the minimum he'll get.

Yes but they will all be in the red zone.

Last year's carries per game don't apply to this year with T.O. in the mix necessarily. Just thought I'd point that out.

Also MBIII is going to be the short yardage and goal line back as well. MBIII will vulture Julies TDs.

JJ is the starter until further notice. He is still a very servicable starter. Everyone likes to jump on someones jock when they have a good start, but JJ put up decent numbers when he was healthy. All the coach speak this summer has done nothing to change the fact that JJ is the starter, and MB III will get carries to keep Jones healthy. MB may end up with more TDs but in a basic scoring system, JJ will be a much more productive back....

Let the flame begin

With Parcells at the helm, Julius, could become Julia, in a heartbeat. I can hear the News Conference already, with Parcell's digging out the "She" crack.

Julius will be motivated by all this and have a great year. Look what the guy has done is some big games. I will take his upside and get barber a sa backup to be safe.
