Do your parents still go to rock concerts?

Recommended Posts

Mine did this past Friday.

They went to the State Theatre in Falls Church and saw the Yardbirds.

Ever heard of them? Clapton, Beck, Page all came from this band.

Shame only 2 originals are still intact.

No, and I don't either.

You don't ever go see live local music or anything like that? Never?

Egad... Dad is 78 and Mom is 74; I doubt they've EVER been to a Rock concert. On the other hand, every single member of the Celtic band Leahy has performed as backup musicians when my father calls Square Dances at our summer home in Ontario, Canada. Yee haw!

Cool answer. Good info.

I'm guessing you are an older male.

When I was young, my parents banned all music from the house. Because music was from the devil.

I think the last concert my dad went to was Elvis and he didn't even like Elvis, they went because that's where all the chicks were.

My neighbors were mostly Jewish. All the grandmas in the neighborhood had the same nickname: Sugart!ts.

I've been going to shows with my GF's dad lately. We saw the Raconteurs a few weeks ago and previously Dressy Bessy awhile back. He's 50, loves music, but his wife doesn't care to go anymore. It’s fun to go with him because he has cash ready for his ticket that night and usually buys me a beer or two. That’s better than any of my damn friends.

My Dad still goes to concerts when he can (he lives in southern Indiana, not much to choose from), but nothing that rocks quite as hard as the Raconteurs.

Who else finds it sad that anyone would ask "ever heard of them?" about the Yardbirds?
