greenegt 3 Posted December 12, 2006 If it's LT, I feel sorry for everyone with the #1 pick in their fantasy drafts. SA has killed many a team, this year.
GobbleDog 1,006 Posted December 12, 2006 Obviously they're going to ask LT first, but it sounds like he's already told people that he won't do it. So that leaves LJ or Peyton Manning. After what happened to Alexander, I bet LJ turns them down on superstition alone. So that only leaves Manning and like somebody said earlier, Manning already endorses everything under the sun so it sounds like a perfect fit.

BMoney 0 Posted December 12, 2006 whos the guy that everyone talks about?..every game when they do well... the lord Jesus?... wait..he was white... i would like to see the cover be a big ER ward and have the players in there..poke fun at themselves... ill say reggie and vince..taking a poo on a map..right where texas is.. deejsixer 0 Posted December 12, 2006 It really depends on the end of the season. If the Saints finish strong (at least 1 playoff win) than it could be Brees or Bush. If Manning wins his first Super Bowl, than it is automatic...Manning gets it. At this point its LT2 by a long shot. The main reason Shaun Alexander got it last year is because he broke the TD record. Using that same logic (and the fact that LT2 is probably going to break the record by alot) it's LT2 no doubt. But how a player finishes the season is key to this discussion, so it is probably too early to discuss this. It's not LT2 by a long shot. The cover is not chosen by who has the best season, it goes by who is the most marketable, and willing to be the coverboy. LT2 has turned down the cover in the past. Not because of the cover curse, but because of all the work that goes into being on the cover. The player chosen for the cover has to go on promotional tours, shoot commercials, photo sessions, etc... I wish some of you people would think about things a little more in depth before making blanket statements.
FFCoolDude 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Wow, you are just a genius. I wish I could be more like you, would you teach me how? I'd be willing to take lessons everyday just to be able to enlighten people with as much wisdom as you do. You are an inspiration to all of us here and I'd just like you to know that on behalf of everyone here on the FFToday forums, we all worship you. Where would we be without you? Can we predict a player's personal decisions? No, dumb a s s. We are basing all of this on stats because that is all that we have to go on. Now, I'm sorry we are all not LaDainian Tomlinson's agent like you...but according to what we know he is the best option for the cover as of right now. Also notice at the end of my post I said: "But how a player finishes the season is key to this discussion, so it is probably too early to discuss this." So what if he's turned it down in the past? That doesn't mean he's going to continue to turn it down...so maybe you should stop making blanket statements and get back to sucking LT's d i c k. Maybe that way your mouth would be too full and you wouldn't say anything that makes you look like a d u m b a s s.
Craven Moorehead 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Since 1999 when it was started Barry Sanders Eddie George Daunte Culpepper Marshall Faulk Michael Vick Ray Lewis Donovan McNabb Shaun Alexander They have all been black, but you will get flamed for your post and called a racist..... not by me though. Not many white receivers on that list
t.j 35 Posted December 12, 2006 Maybe they will fix the blocked punt cheese and the inability to return punts, and put Shane Lecher on the cover. (then again, I never got 07 so maybe they have fixed that stuff already)
BuschWack 59 Posted December 12, 2006 I'd bet that it will go back to a defensive player. Offensive players are scared of the thought and Madden is probably hearing it. Ray Lewis has had the honor and Urlacher may be too wise on that. My guess is SHAWNE MERRIMAN. He likes the spot light and he has that indestructible mentality. Ponyboy 0 Posted December 13, 2006 Madden should consider a head coach or a chearleader for its cover......
gatorbait7391 0 Posted December 13, 2006 Depends on what the features are for the game...thats what they go by. QB manning or brady RB LT LJ SJax(unlikely) Westbrook WR SS T Holt Harrison Gates(unlikely) Defense Urlacher Merriman Bailey
illest 0 Posted December 13, 2006 Also - they usually put the player on the cover based on what improvements were made... they had SA this year because they added the new 'lead blocking thing' for RB's... in '04 they featured Vick cause they added all the QB playmaker stuff and in '05 they had Ray Lewis when they added all those defensive adjustments. so it will depend on what the 'big' improvement is made... could be urlacher (he deserves it for sure); could be LT or LJ or BUSH if its a running back improvement, could be manning or brees or vince young if its a QB improvement... could be Chad Johnson if its a WR improvement it SHOULD be the 'ques COLSTON! ZeroTolerance 584 Posted December 13, 2006 On behalf of all the Saints fans. I'm begging that none of the Saints' players are on the cover. Although if they are I can imagine the business the voodoo priestess on bourbon street will get. I can't wait to see the playoff game in the Superdome. It was mindblowing when they reopened against Atlanta, I can only imagine what it will be like in the playoffs. What Saints fan could POSSIBLY want this? Man, putting multiple Saints on the Madden cover could lead to another hurricane.
bpork 0 Posted December 13, 2006 What Saints fan could POSSIBLY want this? Man, putting multiple Saints on the Madden cover could lead to another hurricane. rofl, that's funny in a twisted way... I'll agree with some of the posters and say that it isn't LT2 because of his attitude, and that it's dependent on the outcome of the playoffs. with that in mind, i picked peyton -- probably a bad choice, but he is the most marketed for now. RaiderHaters Revenge 4,436 Posted December 13, 2006 LT has already been on a cover, and said that he wasnt interested in doing it again. Giant Fans need to stop with the LT/LT2 bullshit, they are both LT, noone is gonna confuse a upstanding high quality rb (possible the best ever) with a crack head loser LB. This is a fantasy football board and last I checked Taylor hasnt had any impact in the NFL in 15 yrs. And I would be willing to bet that Ladanian has broken more NFL records this year then Taylor had in his whole career.

JTB 52 Posted December 13, 2006 This might sound crazy, especially seeing it's never been done, but you know how the Saints are this years miracle team cause of how good they are and how much they overcame..., so...do you think it's possible they throw either the whole saints team on the cover or at least a few players such as Bush/Brees/Horn etc...? Just a though! Cause if they really want to market, I'm sure that would be pretty logical, especially if the Saints make it deep in the playoffs or possibly the S.B. Bro, This is the exact reason I was reading all these posts. I didn't want to duplicate someone else's answer without giving credit. I think the Saints "team" or a few of their more flashy players should be there. Then the whole Madden curse thing can go away....Oh God, could you imagine their flight going down on the way to a road game....

Now that they have the rights they dont have to do anything, the NFL and EA are greedy little bast$rds. Maybe there is a T.O. curse??? (2K4 had T.O. on the cover) Anything he touches goes to hell. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I have heard that Mr. Tomlinson has been approached in the past and declined the offer and that he is not likely to be interested but he never actually been on the cover. <2001 - John Madden 2001 - Eddie George 2002 - Daunte Culpepper 2003 - Marshall Faulk 2004 - Mike Vick 2005 - Ray Lewis 2006 - Donovan McNabb 2007 - Shaun Alexander 2008 - ?
