Perhaps you lack the social skills to differentiate between bored humor (e.g., flipping burgers, being ghey) and caustic comments? Anyway, yours are always the latter, and I will respond in kind. If you objectively look back at our altercations, you will see that is the case.

 

I appreciate the apology on the salesman thing but honestly, I don't take it personally. I know that most people don't respect the sales profession. Hell, I sell to engineers, they are the worst of the lot. But at the end of the day, I am the lifeblood of my company, and I know that I can go to a GM of one of our divisions and tell him what he needs to do, and he will thank me and move mountains to make it happen.

 

I should get a gold star by not following up on the ND comment. A typical bored humor response would involve something with priests and child abuse, but I won't go there because I feel that we've made progress this session. I'm catholic btw, but I can still joke about stuff.

I wouldn't say lack of social skills. I think intentions are commonly mistaken when communicating only through writing. When in a heated debate, bored humor can very much be interpreted as hostility. I have seen it here and other places as well. I take it and give it with a grain of salt considering I cannot see anyone getting genuinely upset at comments on a forum of strangers.

 

I am actually used to the ND remarks. I am fortunate enough to have been through the entire catholic system without incident. I get more grief for U of A believe it or not, especially among my peers.

Like it or not .... I wish I wasn't .... but I was pretty damn close, that whole morning. Saw it all first hand. Was not a good day ... but I was there. It's the truth.

I really don't have an angle either way in terms of Giantsfan and his 9/11 recaps, but my experince in talking to the families who actually lost family members, (and the only families I have talked to were families of flight 93) they were all very willing to go into great detail about their lost loved ones. Both who they were as people and also recanting their last moments with their lost loved ones. Very surreal day for me.
