gpann101 32 Posted March 30, 2007 Since those 2 are on crap teams...I'm going to say Mark Clayton.
jdswan922 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Vincent Jackson. He showed at the end of last season what he is capable of. An interesting stat, 27 of his 30 career receptions were for first downs or touchdowns, so Rivers clearly has faith in him. He is a monster, and with Rivers another year mature, Jackson has a decent shot at breaking out.
ulick 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Third year WR theory has already been disproved. 2nd year WRs are a much better bet (but still nothing to bank on)...

I saw this guy really start to come into his own in the late part of last season and he also played well in the chargers playoff game. I really think this guy has some potential and would be worth a mid round pick.

swamp dog 0 Posted March 30, 2007 troy williamson blows. he couldn't break out of a wet paper bag his hands are so bad, let alone break out in year 3.
FlaHawker 24 Posted March 30, 2007 troy williamson blows. he couldn't break out of a wet paper bag his hands are so bad, let alone break out in year 3. Why the hell I drafted him last year I'll never know
Phurfur 70 Posted March 30, 2007 At the end of last season I marked Vincent Jackson and Mark Clayton as two WRs to pick up next year. I think both will have good seasons.

Ras66not99 0 Posted March 30, 2007 loooooooooooooove Mark Clayton as well.... Of course It Would be better if he was in a more pass friendly offense, but I think the kid will be a special WR sooner than later Brandon Jones is a nice 3rd year sleeper as well... What is the deal? 1 Posted March 31, 2007 I think it will be Matt Jones who will finally emerge as the go to guy for Jax this year. Dealt with some injuries and is still learning the position...
jocstrap 8 Posted March 31, 2007 Lots of good suggestions and names on this subject. Matt Jones came on strong at the end of last year. Mark Clayton had a wonderful year except the times I played him. I was thinking Edwards will be solid also. Troy Williamson is at the bottom of this list. All the players listed above are getting the looks as a #1 receiver on their respected teams and that is all you could ask for. I don't see Williamson as getting the most looks on the Vikes. Reggie Brown was very nice when stallworth wasn't in - this is good now stallworth is gone. Jocstraps rankings for the next year of these guys #1 - Matt Jones #2 - Mark Clayton #3 - Reggie Brown # 4 - can't spell his first name Edwards #5 - Vincent Jackson #6 - Troy Willliamson Are we talking td's or yards? GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted March 31, 2007 Reggie Brown will have a breakout year and establish himself as the #1 in Philly. He'll hit double digit TDs this season. Braylon Edwards will put up big numbers with Winslow sidelined again. Edwards will crack 1,200 yards receiving.
ulick 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Can I please see some prove of this? Doug Drinen wrote about this as early as 2000--there is little statistical evidence to suggest that a WR is more likely to breakout in his third year, and found in 2003 that second year WRs were even more likely to breakout. Dan 62 Posted April 2, 2007 I'm not sure it's fair to use him as a third-year breakout, as he really began in his second year, breaking out, but Braylon Edwards is primed to have a very good third year. If he can remain teachable, he's going to have a very good year. He has the talent, to be sure. Consider that he had an improving year in 2006 with Charlie Frye at QB. He may not have a better quarterback this year, but you know he won't have worse. I really like what he can do. And that's from a Steeler fan. Oh, and additionally, because he's on such a bad team, he may even drop some in the draft and be had at a better value.

Restricted 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Matt Jones is top on my list. Reggie Brown of Philly should be their goto guy this season.
Queso Viejo 0 Posted April 2, 2007 ??? it's not like he didn't play his rookie season. He missed time early because of a staph infection and then tore his ACL in the later part of his rookie year. So this coming year, he'll be a year removed from that injury.

gpann101 32 Posted April 3, 2007 Heres my BIG list... 1-Mark Clayton-really came on at the end..developed a nice combo with McNair at the helm. 2-Reggie Brown-should be go-to guy with stallworth gone...may take some time to re-connect with mcnabb again. 3-Braylon Edwards-health is the biggest issue. 4-Troy Williamson-if he fixes his butter-finger problem...he will do well. 5-Matt Jones-Garrard or Leftwich...whos better for his statline?Strong run game keeps him on earth in J-ville 6-Vincent Jackson-who?pass attack in SD? With LT,who needs a WR...Qb for that fact as well.
