By the way - I can either do the draft randomizer and we can all know what picks we are getting pre-draft, or I can let Yahoo randomize, which means we won't know until the day of the draft.

 

I think it will let me do a custom order...pretty sure. Let me know. If the randomizer is used, it will email out all 12 members (myself included) their draft positions.

scooter.......thanks agin for taking over the league.......i would also like to welcome old guru....i remember his assistance in the draft last season.....

 

 

i was hoping everyone would want to have a slow draft like last year,....it's what made this thing unique.....but i certainly understand the time constraints so i'll comply.....

 

 

however i have something that is going to tie me up all Sunday afternoon the 24th- i just suggested the dtae because i thought we were doing a slow draft again...........if the draft is 5 pm pacific i am good to go- that's 7 pm my time...but if it is 5 central i am not going to be available...could you to bump that up that evening if at all possible...otherwise i won't be able to draft..... i really want to be in the league

The Police are playing here in TN this weekend. But Bonnaroo tix are 150 for 3 day, and no single day tix. I'm old and work and can't handle a 3 day concert, so I'm not dishing 150 to see the Police on Sunday. Would be a nice show though.

Sorry - I thought I answered this a few posts ago (bottom of last page). Yes, it will be random, but we have options.

 

The order, as is right now, will be randomly decided by Yahoo as per standard.

 

However, last year we used the Draft Randomizer, where everyone's emails are entered into the online app, and when submit is clicked it emails out a random draft order to everyone. Then I can manually set the order in Yahoo.

 

This is an option, should we decide to choose it. I'd be stoked to know where I pick in advance, but at the same time it's better practice for me to not know until draft day - better prep for my other leagues which draft like that. Then I have to prepare as if I could be picking anywhere.

 

So I'm content to leave it to Yahoo to randomize on draft day but am also totally willing to get input from the rest of the league on the matter.

I believe this is 7:00 pm CT. Which I think would be 6:00 ET. I will be pushing it to get to the computer by that time, but it should work fine.

 

What ever you decide on the pick order will be fine with me. *I agree that the randomizer would be nice to know ahead what our pick spot will be. Especially since I won't be on board 30 minutes before the draft starts like I would prefer.

That way....in the freak instance that YOU DO get the first pick you won't have to worry about getting heat for it. I don't think anyone would accuse you of cheating in a free league but why even leave it open to possible scrutiny? I'm sure Fumble would be willing to do it......

 

Let me know what you think. Either way let's get the draft order set up as soon as possible so we can start gameplanning.

It's an internet based tool that cannot be faked. So why would there be any question as to its validity? You seem to be intent on stirring the pot with me in here. You did it when I opened it up to invite new members and now you're doing it again. Sorry if this response seems harsh, but I'm running out of patience.

 

There will be no "finger pointing" with either method. Yahoo = RANDOM. look at the settings in the league if you don't believe me - the Yahoo league settings will show the draft order as "random".

 

If I happen to luck into the 1st pick and someone starts a bunch of crap over it, then I will promptly throw their whiny ass straight out of the league for it without discussion. I will not abide that level of bullsh!t in a free league. Seriously - I can't even fathom someone other than you doing such since we have such a good group of people here.

 

IF people decide they'd rather have the randomizer, I will say it again: the Randomizer EMAILS OUT THE RESULTS TO THE MEMBERS. SO THERE IS NO "click it until you get the order you like". It is a "one and done" thing and it is what it is. The results are EMAILED OUT. So everyone will see what order got spit out. I will post the link to the exact randomizer I use later when I get home so you can see it for yourself. Try it a few times. If you can find a way to "cheat" with it then I'll personally hand you $100 bill and will lick the cheese out from between your toes. That's how rock solid it is and thus why I am so irritated by this post.

 

I'm sorry if you can't trust me enough for me to run an internet based randomizer that I used for our draft order last year and have been giving the link to people here of for years. If that's the case then perhaps you're not right for this league - I am not taking your insinuation well that I can't be trusted with the draft order of a free league.

 

Make a decision: either you're in or out, but I am not even going to entertain this as a serious post. That's what I think.

The randomizer emails out the picks too. Like i explained: it's a one and done with no possible way to cheat.

 

using the randomizer is using a "random 3rd party". If the method were "pulling names from a hat" it would make sense to have Fumbles or someone else do it for us. But this tool is designed to do exactly that: take the randomization out of the hands of any one league member and put it out in public in a way that cannot be altered.

 

using another member to use the randomizer is redundant, but ok - if you want me to send Fumlbeweed the 12 league email addys so he can enter them into the draft randomizer (just as I would) I will do so.

 

But it is not sitting well with me that I am not trusted to use the same tool I used last year.

 

As for Ace, if he hadn't already challenged me on running this league above I may not have reacted as I did. If this was from anyone else I would have responded far more politely, but Ace seems to have issues with me as commish and I don't appreciate the insinuation that I can't be trusted to use an online randomizer without coming under scrutiny. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early since your draft will start promptly at the assigned time. You can rank your players up until 45 minutes before your draft.

* The draft order will be randomly determined approximately 30 minutes before the draft begins.

 

Because it makes no difference WHO enters the names into the randomizer, yet the validity is being challenged, we will go with the method listed on the home page and let Yahoo randomize 30 mins before the draft.

 

I was willing to go the extra step here and set it up manually after using the randomizer, but it's come under fire. And frankly based on Ace's ridiculous post(s), I am not convinced that he won't freak out no matter WHO gets the 1st pick because if I could cheat using it, then so could the "neutral party". Which means that with doubt cast upon the integrity of the tool, the tool cannot be used.

the entire point of using the online draft randomizer, and not drawing names out of a hat behind closed doors is to provide the most neutral, controversial free result. So using a "neutral person" to enter the same names into the same randomizer and click the same button is a redundancy.

 

Perhaps next time you could simply look into the option provided, where everything would have been apparent to you. when I post the link to the randomizer later, you can try it for yourself by entering your real email and 11 fake ones to see how it works. Then you'll see that your challenge over its neutral nature or the ability to tamper was entirely without merit.

 

So again, I am not against providing a 3rd party with our 12 email addresses and letting them enter them into the tool. But it is a completely and utterly unnecessary step. When I want to randomize, I don't want to wait for someone else to do it for the sole reason that Ace had a wild hair up his ass because he didn't understand how it works, despite my explaining it to him.

 

So do you not trust me? Or do you not trust the randomizer? What exactly is your problem with it, man?!?

 

The reason I am "defensive" is because this is hardly the 1st time you've challenged me in here on my commissioning, despite what others have complimented as an exemplary job at it. I do my utmost to provide a good environment here Ace, and so far you're the only one pissing in my cheerios for my efforts. Maybe I've got a shorter fuse for you than I would for others because of it, but it indeed bothered me that my integrity would be questioned over setting up the draft order using a neutral 3rd party application designed specifically to provide the utmost integrity to our league's draft order.

This has nothing to do with not trusting or not liking you (which I don't). I just think that in EVERY SINGLE CASE where we need to do anything that involves the league as a whole we should either a) put it up for vote and/or B ) Use a neutral party that we all know.

 

Before you write back anothr 46 page essay of a post read, and re-read everything I just wrote. Don't "read into" anything and stopping taking things personal. And for the love of God...allow others to voice their opinion on this topic instead of continuing to try to argue with me.
