Hmm... let me paraphrase. "We here in NOLA ain't so bad. And we take no personal responsibility, instead blaming insurance companies for our continued woes. And if you don't like us, you live with your mom and whack off to kiddie pron."

How'd I do?

Unpossible. Only two arrests have been made within Cincinnati's city limits.

Also, I thought NOLA was a hole before the hurricane. If it was possible to do a system restore on NOLA, I think the best date would be in the early 19th century.

I'm with you... But these douche bags just like to bash. They bash anything, and everything.

They even bash a man (Marquise Hill) after he died, just because they are hiding behind a computer screen.

And we are the pricks?

I think not.

I mean really...Think about how easy it is to gang up on one city. One city where most have never been... One city that is depicted to the nation that only wants to hear the bad.... Only the bad they can remember.

All they know about is Bourbon St, and the 9th ward...

But they never get to know The Marigny, and The Garden District, St. Charles Ave, Magazine St, The Riverwalk, what was the Lakefront...

All the beautiful parts of the city, that these douche bags will never know.

But phuck em, it's their loss.

They want to be insensitive to people that lost everything... even their families.

My life will never be the same because of Katrina, but according to them I probably just fall into the same category of murderers, rapists, drug dealers, just because I happen to be from NOLA.

But that is their loss. Their loss that their minds are so wired shut, that they can't form their own opinions, can't decipher between reality and fox news.

Phuck em...

Here's your problem: New Orleans is the only city that hasn't recovered from a natural disaster in a reasonable amount of time. Other cities pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get it done. Currently, New Orleans is seen as being lazy.

Most cities are better prepared to start as well. I'm not trying to be heartless but when someone tells me to get the fock out of a city for my own safety....I leave!!!!

awesome point. I can remember not to long ago Des Moines being under water for a while. Tornado's in Kansas and NE, etc... Those folks get to work rather than ask the Govt/Insurance companies to come save them...

No. Nothing has ever happened to this magnitude. 80% of the city lost their homes. When has that ever happened to a major city?

It hasn't.

Yeah... People that get their houses ripped apart by a tornado just come out of pocket for hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix their home, right?

Sure they do.

I think it's statehood was rescinded when it was found out that Ben Affleck was from there. And no, I'm not from MA.

Yeah, I know....to think, back in 1906 people thought SF would recover someday from the great quake and burning to the ground. Too bad they never really bounced back - it's a heck of a nice location right there on the water.

That surprise hurricane ruined everything. If only people knew it was coming, they could have had the chance to leave or something.

Why does it seem like Katrina is the only hurricane to ever hit the US? Florida gets battered over and over yet they seem to move on and we don't have to hear about it for years later. Stop blaming the government, stop blaming everyone else. Hurricanes don't come out of nowhere. I feel the for the city but the city didn't prepare itself even though it knew Katrina was on it's way.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Florida is above sea level, when the water comes in--it goes right back out.

There is no standing water in the city for weeks at a time.

There houses don't have to be completely rebuilt because of the mold.

It's a completely different situation.

Come drive through New Orleans and see the water lines 6 feet above the interstate. No where else has that.

THE WATER SAT HERE FOR WEEKS!

80% of the city, standing water--weeks.

Can't you get that through your head?

The coast line would be damaged in Florida cities, but 1 or 2 miles inward everything would look fine.

Come drive through my phucking city and you wouldn't be saying so much nonsense.

Have any of you ever lost all of your posessions? Family members included, all at once? No you haven't.

Why can't you just accept the fact that you just might not know everything, maybe just once you didn't have a phucking clue as to what you were talking about.

NOLA has know for 40 years their levies could not with stand a category 5 hurricane yet they did nothing. They didn't even have an emergency plan in case it happened. I call this stupid.

I'm from New Orleans too, but think of the apathy as a blessing. It's basically a license to sh¡t all over everyone else's problems. Fock 9/11. I'm tired of hearing about that sh¡t.

Not to mention 90% of what's being said by people in this thread is pure ignorance.

I think it demonstrates real intelligence to decide to live in a city that should currently be under water already; to really show brilliance, we should always rebuild it every time it gets wet.

This logic is great...

Why have people living in Miami? They have hurricanes.

Why have people living in San Fran? They live on a fault line.

Why have people living in Kansas? They have deadly tornados.

Why have people living in New York? They have deadly blizzards.

Why live anywhere in the North? Snow kills people.

Why live anywhere near the atlantic ocean? A massive tsunami could wipe everything out.

Why live anywhere near the pacific ocean? A massive tsunami could wipe out everything.

Why live in Hawaii? They could have a massive hurricane.

Why live in Hawaii? They have volcanos.

Why live in Washington state? They have volcanos.

Why live anywhere in the midwest? Tornados run rampant.

Why live in Houston? A hurricane could strike there, and it would be impossibly to evacuate the entire city.

Why live in NYC? A hurricane could completely demolish lower manhattan.

NOLA has know for 40 years their levies could not with stand a category 5 hurricane yet they did nothing. They didn't even have an emergency plan in case it happened. I call this stupid.

I love when people call something stupid, yet misspell a word in their 'stupid' reply.

Levee. Not levies.

Your Government, The Army Corps of Engineers designed and built our levees.

The people of NOLA did not.

We were lied to, saying that they would withstand a Cat 3. Hurricane. It didn't even withstand a Cat1.

By most accounts, the storm surge that flooded the city was actually comparable to that of a Cat1 Hurricane.

That is what flooded most of the city.

And this is the people of NOLA's fault?

Not the Army Corps of Engineers, who knowingly built faulty levees for the people of NOLA?

Yeah... I guess we should have all got together and just built them ourselves. That sounds like a grand idea...
