FantasyKing 4 Posted June 13, 2007 Fie on you!!! Jerious Norwood was supposed to slide into the sixth. This is why I take them before there's a chance of straying. Sorry bro - I can't trust any of you bastards to let anything fall so i have to get who I want as fast as possible. Hate to hurt a fellow Steeler fan. Alright, I must be out of the ATL loop. Has Norwood been declared the starter this season over ~other ATL RB~ or are you just speculating that he will or at the least take over early in the season? He'll have the job. It's as obvious as the Clinton Portis situation back when he was a rookie. Only a matter of time.

Ok, thanks. Just making sure I didn't miss some official declaration of the starter.

Only a matter of time. 5.10 - RB DeAngelo Williams, CAR Remote just proved my point above, really wanted both of these guys somehow but didn't know who would fall if I picked one or the other - probably neither. JScott - no Norwood hasn't been declared the starter, other RB is 32 or 33 and already injured, just really liked what I saw from Norwood last year and think he is primed to take over. Don't really care who the QB is, I think the running game will be fine there.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted June 13, 2007 Geez, I thought I could get a backup RB with my 6th pick, but you guys are just swiping them.
Fumbleweed 545 Posted June 13, 2007 I am ecstatic! When I saw both DeAngelo Williams and Adrian Peterson fall this far, I was thrilled.....Peterson has enormous upside as I think he is a special RB. Coupled with the steady McAllister, I think I have a perfect duo behind Travis Henry. I almost picked Peterson at 4.02. I like him that much. My draft just went from one that I liked some, but not completely to one that I'm very excited about.......
Fumbleweed 545 Posted June 13, 2007 Still curious as to how you guys allowed Peterson to fall this far? Am I missing something??
FantasyKing 4 Posted June 13, 2007 Still curious as to how you guys allowed Peterson to fall this far? Am I missing something?? I think he is going to be splitting time and unless something happens to the other guy, they will always split at least this year. Norwood I liked better because I think the other guy in ATL has little left in the tank. They just brought in that other guy in MIN and paid him a lot of money, they aren't gonna keep him on the bench. Also, when was the last time a Minnesota RB was a good fantasy play? They have always been RBBC, sometimes RBRBRBBC, and I just don't like their offense overall. Nothing special at QB or WRs, all focus will be on stopping the run. They do have an above average offensive line and I have watched Peterson for enough years to know that he is a special talent. I guess the last guy to shine at RB for Minny would be Robert Smith. He was pretty solid for several years when he stayed healthy. I still love the pick, but your points are valid.

Couldn't be the OK connection, could it I tend to agree with FK about AP splitting time with ~other MIN RB~. I think it's a good pick for the 6th round. IMO it would have been WAY too early for 4.02 though. And it wasn't like ~other MIN RB~ had a bad season last year where MIN would be in a rush to replace him. This smells of McAllister/Bush from last season.

McAllister is a far better RB than the other Minny RB, by the way......

I probably didn't get to see as many games of AP as you while he was at OU, but I definitely agree that he'll be special in the pros. Agreed. My comparison was more about the respective situations, not the talent level.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted June 13, 2007 I think AD will be a special RB in the pros, but not this year. The Vikings have no shot at a championship, so there's no reason to risk his health by putting the load on him. I see *otherMinnyback* getting a small majority of carries to start the year, and AD getting a small majority by year's end.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 13, 2007 deangelo and adrian were awesome late 5th picks. i knew fumble really wanted adrian and figured that was the guy he almost blew our minds with at 4.2. imo wouldve been a pretty bad pick then. i thought in jetdoc that i might get AP at 5.9, but the rbs went faster there. thats about where he ought to go imo. surprised to see deangelo go so low. not necessarily a huge td guy, but i really expect great things from him this year. theres a rb i could count on pretty stabily as a rb2.
