Big_Pete 0 Posted August 1, 2007 so I took my emissions test today (and failed miserably) I need some sh1t done, but would like an honest mechanics opinion first. also, a more pressing issue is that my truck must be in 4wheel drive. I don't have any manual or nothing, so I don't know what gears are for what. Is there anything you can do to guide me to which gear is just the 2wd one? 1983 Bronco, 302V8, auto tranny. if it'd be easier to call, then pm me and I'll give you my #. or call saw and have her give you my #. thanks
KSB2424 3,148 Posted August 1, 2007 My goodness Pete. A 83' V8 that's in 4 wheel drive all the time and failed emmisions. I bet you spend a shitload on gas, not mention kill a tree everytime you fire that baby up.

I only get 9mpg in that focker and the sh1tty thing is that one of the gears that I put it in for the 4wheel drive part just grinds, so I know it's blown. I'm just hoping that it aint the 2wd portion of it
kutulu 1,675 Posted August 1, 2007 Unless you want your truck to blow soap bubbles out of the tailpipe and have pom poms for hubcaps, I would look for a different mechanic for advice. Just sayin'

As it turns out, his thingamajiggy was interferring with his whatsamadoodle. I had him take a cross threaded, left handed monkey wrench and hit the muffler bearing just to the right of where the blinker fluid canister resides. Problem solved Except for the faggity ass bubbles coming out of the exhaust...I'll need to do research on this

Big_Pete 0 Posted August 2, 2007 Bump Well, Pete...Did it work? well, instead of 6 times over the allowed limit, I was just under 4 times the limit gonna have to get some carb work done or something. Was thinking about putting some E85 in my tank cause that has extremely low carbon output. I'm 5 months away from being exempt forever, and if I spend $150 towards fixing the truck to pass emissions, then I get exempt from this test, which would mean that I would then be exempt for life.
