Coulter: We want 'Jews to be perfected'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.

Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004

"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant  . They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)

When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."

Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"

"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."

"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”

"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."

Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think — we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."

"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."

Deutsch said he was personally offended...

She had to be drunk when she did this interview. Had to be. Can't for the life of me figger out the FedEx concept. What? Jews get to heaven 3-5 business days after they die, but Christians can get there by 10:00 the next morning (extra charge for weekends & holidays)?

This crazy ###### has said some wild things in the past, but geez... :shocking:

Between her and Imawhakjob, not exactly a good time to be Jewish.

What a focking deutsch bag. You interview someone that says controversial things. And you are offended? Fock you. You don't have the right to be offended. And maybe you shouldn't have done the interview at all, since you didn't do your homework and know who you were interviewing. Die, deutsch bag. Die.

Also, a basic principle of Christianity is to convert nonbelievers to Christianity so that the non-believes have a chance at rewards in the afterlife. It's done out of concern, not out of some kind of prejudice or selfishness. Coulter didn't say anything that any other religious person may have said.

Also, I don't like Coulter at all.

A basic premise of FUNDAMENTALIST EVANGELICAL Christianity. There's a huge difference. You're not going to find a lot of Lutherans & Methodists running around telling Jews they need to be perfected. They MIGHT however, offer them a casserole of some kind.

And, I'm pretty sure you don't surrender your right to be offended simply by interviewing controversial people.

I strongly believe that no one has the right to be offended. If something is said to hurt your feelings, go fock yourself. Everyone has the right to say whatever tasteless things they want.

I think you've twisted a general board consensus.

Every body has the right to be offended. It's a basic natural reaction. You can't show a picture of a toddler getting sodomized and tell people they can't be internally offended by it. However:

NOBODY has the right to NOT be offended. You may not like the words that I use, but you can't file a focking lawsuit just b/c your wittle sensibilities were hurt.

In this case, Deitz can certainly say "I'm personally offended by what you said", but if he then files a freaking lawsuit claiming he deserves damages because he was offended, well then he can just piss the fock right off.

I think we're actually on the same page here.

Double D is such a puss on this. Is it an offensive thing to say, phuck no, is it a selfish and closed minded thing, absolutely. If somebody walks up to me and says "you need to convert to devil worship to be perfect", Id laugh my hairy ballz off and tell em to get lost, I would not be OFFENDED. Double D was painfully trying to make a story out of this. Thanks Dems, now everbodzy can be a victim!!!! CHEERS!

Deutsch has had Coulter on before and she said some fairly controversial stuff, so the idea that he didn't do his homework or know how she is off-track. He was probably just surprised that even she would sink her shameless attention whooring to this level.

It was unprofessional for him to say he was offended. Now he wants to use the same "look at me" strategy by playing the role of a victim.

She wants to do away with his religion. Why is he not allowed to be offended by that? TV hosts are allowed to be offended just like anyone else. And I didn't read the link but I don't see how he's "playing the role of a victim"? He's not arranging protest marches or sueing her for mental anguish, he just said he was offended.

But the interviewer is now part of the story. He was personally offended. And a journalist, interviewer, whatever should not become part of the story. Let Coulter hang herself. Why did the interviewer have to make a comment? I support his right to say what he wants, but it was an effort to inject his name into the spotlight, most likely to gain exposure and maybe parlay his increased fame into better occupational opportunities. Coulter used the media to get exposure, and now the interviewer is using Coulter's controversy for the same. Just say "no comment" for your professional integrity sake, so idiots like me aren't questioning your motives.

I don't think Deutsch has ever made any pretense about being a journalist. He has a talk show, they talk, he talks. They have their views, he has his views. It almost sounds like you think no one in the media should ever disagree with anything anyone says? :dunno:

One of the most obvious symptoms of the blurring of journalism and commentary. People think these guys are 'journalists'. They're not. Nobody seems to have a problem when OReally or Beck or anybody else says something is wrong or offensive, this isn't any different.

Oreally (for example) is a journalist like I'm a marathon runner. He went from hosting "Inside Edition" to Faux. If I want information on Kato Kaelins' life, I'll turn to Bill. Political or moral insight? Not so much. People think if a guy's (any guy) got a suit and tie and a TV show, he's a friggin genius. Truth is, any of them is one step removed from a game show host.

BIG difference between journalists and commentators. But to hear folks speak, they don't know one from the other anymore. Easy to see how that happened. Our newsnets used to be a lot of news and a little commentary. Now it's just the opposite.

That's because Lutherans and Methodists don't believe the Bible. Jesus offended the Jews too...that's why they had him killed.

How can you honestly say "I can't believe Coulter said this"? Seriously. Explain that to me. Is there anything this woman could say that's honestly THAT shocking? It's what she does. Even people who are fairly on the right (i.e.-me) think she's nuts. It's like saying "Wow, Howard Stern has gone too far!" It's the same principle. She's just talking about politics and not strippers, and with the way things are going lately, there's really not much difference.

The thing is she continues to be a key speaker at a lot of Republican events. They really need to distance themselves from hateful, bigoted people like Coulter(Rush & O'Reilly can be included too). This is just another reason why the Republican party has gone down the tubes. Having people like Coulter represent your party to the degree she does really shows how out of touch with the American people the Republican party is.

Ann Coulter is a performance artist. She says "controversial" things to get attention and therefore sell her column and her books - that's it. I doubt she believes most of what she says. She's a drag queen impersonating a fascist. You should treat Ann the same way you'd treat any precocious child; ignore her and she'll go away.

The only thing that bothers me about Ann are the redneck focktools who don't get the joke.

She said that Jews should convert to Christianity. Jesus said the same thing. I'm not sure what's news here, aside from the confusing reference to FedEX.

That skeletor ###### makes me yawn every time she drops an outrageous statement like that. I'm not a Rosie O'donnel fan, but I would love to see her eat her. And I don't mean that sexually

I would like to see where she has been the "Key" speaker at a lot of Republican events.

Has she spoken at any Republican National Conventtion like the hateful, bigoted Al Sharpton did at the DNC in 2004?

Well, to a point I agree. I would say it's not an either/or situation, but a both/and one with Coulter. In my opinion, she says what she really believes, but she also says it so as to achieve the maximum reaction.

Since "pissing people off" is your only talent, and she has made millions doing just that I would say she is more intelligent than you.
