Some focker just tried to screw me on Craigslist

Recommended Posts

So because of my iphone, I decided to sell my zune for cheap on craigslist.

I get an e-mail saying:

"I am buying this item form my

partner overseas and i will be adding $100 for the shipping and

handling.I would have made this transaction locally but am presently

out of town so get back to me with your PayPal account email address

as for me to send you the money i am doing this very fast because i

have promised my partner that the item will be there soonest get back

to me immediately as for us to transact very fast"

So that sounds sketch from the beginning. But I did say you could pay on paypal, so I gave him my paypal address.

Then, I get 2 e-mails:

From: rickjohnson0@gmail.com on behalf of service@paypal.com (tracking.shipment@consultant.com)

Dear ronnyzd@hotmail.com,

Therefore we urge you to get the merchanise shipped to the buyer's address and verify it by sending the shipment tracking details to us at : tracking.shipment@consultant .com

And:

Dear ronnyzd@hotmail.com,

We received a shipping update from Justin Patton, the buyer of your Craigslist item

Oyo State,

Nigeria 23402.

We have confirmed and verified this shipping address, therefore we urge to ship the merchandise to the above address and verify it by sending the shipment tracking details to us.

*SHIPMENT VERIFICATION*

(1).Contact us stating the tracking number of the shipment at: " tracking.shipment@consultant .com

".

(2).You can give the buyer of your auction item the tracking number of the shipment and once he/she verifies the shipment,he/she will notify us immediately.

As a computer guy, I spotted the scam easily. It was a really bad paste job for the paypal logos and the address with "on behalf of paypal.com(tracking.shipment@consultant.com)" was sketchy as well.

So I googled "consultant.com scam" and I got this page:

http://www.scienceshareware.com/ebay/nigeria-scam.htm

So of course, I e-mailed back the guy saying:

"Hey! Thanks for the quick payment, your Zune is in the mail! Unfortunately, I did not get a tracking number.

I am also selling a PSP and Wii for $150 and $250 if you are interested in those."

If you had to use google to know if the guy was actually scamming you, you're not much of a computer guy.

When a dude throws me $190 for a Zune I bought new for $100 a year ago...I wanted to make sure it was a scam.

I already thought so with that whole email address thing.

In Arabic, Jihad means "strive" or "struggle"

It's kind of an inside joke...so to speak.

I thought this was going to be a post about your personal ad in the "casual encounters: m4m" section.

Because I must say, you made a good pitch.

Wow are you stupid for even giving him your paypal address seriously... Wow DUMB

You can get my paypal address by searching for my name on paypal, buying some of my e-bay stuff, and 90 percent of the time, its the person's primary address, no harm done. So don't be a d1ck if you don't know.
