There are no scriptures in the Bible that say it's wrong to prevent conception with birth control.

 

But there are scriptures in the Bible where it talks about harming a fetus being punishable by death, Exodus 21:22-23 to be exact.

 

The Hebrew word for with child in Exodus 21:22 is "hareh" which means pregnant.

 

So if you harm a baby in it's mother's womb, God commands a life for a life.

 

And if I remember correctly, there are passages in the scriptures that talk about appropriate situations when you can beat up your slaves. Think those are correct?

Now,

Women are abortive by their very design. Maybe they should be outlawed or be made to wear a warning from the Surgeon General.

 

How so? spontaneous abortions occur due to any number of factors; genetic and chromosomal abnormalities, age of mother, age of father, etc. How are women "abortive" be their design? I can see how miscarriages would occur due to genetic and chromosomal abnormalities, however this would show me more of a "survival of the fittest" view, not something "God made." God is perfect, anything He does the first time around is perfect. Wouldn't God eliminate miscarriages then...if each and every one of his children; each and every life created was perfect the first time around?

In Exodus 21:22 the verb is used “of untimely birth” (Brown, Driver, & Briggs, Hebrew Lexicon, p. 423), or of “premature birth” (cf. NIV; NKJV).

 

Noted Hebrew scholar Walter C. Kaiser, Jr. has observed that it is a “gross error,” either by translation or by means of commentary, to argue that a miscarriage (or abortion) is suggested in this passage (Toward Old Testament Ethics, Zondervan, 1983, p. 170).

 

In an excellent article which discusses this passage at length, Jack W. Cottrell, a professor of theology at the Cincinnati Bible Seminary, declared: “There is absolutely no linguistic justification for translating verse 22 to refer to a miscarriage (or abortion)” (Christianity Today, March 16, 1973, p. 8).

 

Truth is, this scripture is often used by Pro-Choicers as it seems to imply that if you cause a woman to abort and/or miscarry, you only get a fine, but if you harm the woman, you have to pay with your life. - Which argues that the Bible values harming feti like parking tickets and draws a clear distinction between life and unborn life.

 

Others would argue that "any harm" means to both mother AND born child. - But in no way if a premature birth simply occurs as a result of two guys rough-housing, no big deal.
