Matt Shaub.....

Recommended Posts

The last two times he started vs the Jags and Phins he has put up 40 and 29 pts in our league respectively.

I really do not have a choice about starting him with hasselcrap and Princess Cassel on my bench.

Is he a top 12 qb now? still throws picks.......

thoughts.....

i think so, especially now that AJ has started to pick it up as well. I may even try to trade my bench WR for him in a league where I am starting Bulger

Has missed a game and had his bye and is still the 12th ranked qb in scoring in my leagues.... He has also played the tough part of his schedule...

I would say he is a solid number 1 at this point.

Somehow in my league he got dropped. I immediately picked him up and traded Favre out for Forte to Hasselbeck/Cassel owner. I am actually thinking about playing him week 7 over Brees. It sounds crazy but he's at home against Detroit and Drew is on the road vs Carolina. I think either way my QB will put up decent numbers but I would just feel extra cool if successfully benched Drew Brees.

I also have this nagging feeling that the bottom is about to drop out from under Drew. There has just been too much talk about him lately.

good point....i was about to say schaub plays Detroit at home and looks good this week.

As far as benching Drew he should get colston back and an old saying...."Never bench your studs". Even if schaub outscores him you can live with that but if you bench brees and he goes off you will never forgive yourself....imo

Funny the things discussed in this thread.

I currently have JTO as my ONLY qb on my roster!!!

I have MJD, Forte, Barber, and Lynch at RB though (auction league, we use formations and i run 3rb formation).

So I started to shop around a RB to shore up my QB position....obviously Forte was the one everyone wanted. The Favre and the Schaub owners were the ones that stepped up.

Favre owner offered me Forte for Favre straight up.

Schaub owner offered me Schaub and Chris Johnson for Forte.

Im gonna take the Schaub deal....mostly cause of the fact that getting CJ back is pretty money on top of the QB upgrade. I think Favre may finish better at seasons end, but Schaub has a chance to be pretty explosive.

So all that said, yes, I am going to be starting Schaub as my #1 qb...

I had Schaub as my #9 rated QB before the season started. I drafted Cutler and was set to take Schaub before I realized their bye week was the same, so I ended up with Rivers instead. Rivers started so hot that I didn't even think to get Schaub off WW and now he's gone. But he's still in my top 10 even after a slow start and he's gonna tear it up the next few games.

I drafted Cutler...then later took Schaub. I looked at the wrong column, so mistakenly thought Schaub had a different BYE. Hurricane Ike solved my screw up for me. Given the receivers' injuries in Denver, I was actually considering starting Schaub this week instead of Cutler. I think Schaub will be at worst a great spot play.

Either one is a good start. I personally think Schaub will have to pass less than Cutler.

In one league I have Schaub/Campbell and am juggling them based upon matchups, but will probably be starting Schaub the majority of the time. Schaub and AJ are money together. In another league I have McNabb and Schaub and I think it's going to be a real struggle to decide who to play each week if Schaub keeps this up.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see Det scoring enough (even against the Hous D) to force Schaub into throwing much to win the game. I can see Slaton/Green getting a combined 35 carries, w/ many in the 2nd alf to salt the game away. ROY getting traded & CJ2 being possibly limited b/c of a concussion means less weapons for Det to use--the Lions will try to run a lot too.

Bingo, the Detwat MO is to fall behind by 21 in about 3 1/2 minutes. It's pretty much ball control offense for the other team from there on.

Im in the same situation as a couple of you..I have Brees and got Schaub as my back up...I tried to trade Schaub for Chris Johnson earlier in the year and was rebuffed...but he was going thru a tough time. I was also looking at starting him over Brees but I dont think I can pull the trigger on that with Colston and Shockey coming back....and was lucky enough to pick up Shockey two weeks ago(someone cut him like an idiot) as I heard Tony G might get traded....and besides I think Shockey will be an upgrade over Gonzales right now...I wonder what I could get for Schaub-Gonzales or Schaub-Shockey right now? any ideas?

Well, I made my deal. The Favre owner started sending so much BS emails saying that I should be taking his deal not the Schaub deal that I decided ###### him im doing the Schaub deal

Forte is a beast, especially in PPR, but CJ is no slouch, and lots of "experts" are pretty high on Schaub and the texans O.

This is a deal that could clearly hurt me...id usually NEVER recommend someone trade a guy who is proving to be a stud like Forte for "potential" like Schaub in week 7, but if you can get 2 guys with Potential (like CJ) and your team can afford the loss of the stud, then its a "play to win" move.

He's a beast with good match ups looming.

When you say good matchups, I assume your talking about Forte?

Schaub and Cutler were the 2 QB's I thought were gonna breakout this year. I took Schaub, and it's starting to really pay off.

They have a ton of weapons, and their D sucks. They are gonna have to pass to win.

Plus, he has some nice upcoming match-ups.

I'm in a negative point league, so the INT's aren't a big deal. But his passing yards, and TD's will be.

Great QB for those who didn't draft one in the first 3 rounds. who will be right up there at seasons end.

My QB Outlook:

Brees

Manning

Cutler

McNabb

Schaub

Warner(I don't trust him staying healthy though)

Guys like Rodgers, Roth, Rivers, etc. will have nice weeks, and also a lot of inconsistency

Schaub is definately hot right now, but will he be consistant? If you had the choice of aquiring Schaub or Eli in a trade, which one would you want?

Warner owner who's giving Schaub the start this week (Warner on bye) and next week (Warner @ Carolina). After that, the majority of Warner's matchups are much better than Schaub's.

I'm also an owner of both Cutler & Schaub and am on the fence about which to start this week. I do worry about NE being fired up at home on MNF, the long trip East for Denver, etc. But i'll likely stick with Jay. Funny, I also have Prater & K. Brown and am leaning toward starting the latter.. for just the reasons you guys mentioned about the QBs.. I can see a lot of 2nd half FGs at the end of drives for Houston as they run out the game.

The trade FB is interesting.. I have gotten plenty of tire kickers for Schaub as decent bye fills disappear, injurys mount to QBs.. teams get thin at the position by trading. Have been trying to roll Schaub & Grant into a better option at RB.. or a stud at WR and have come up a little short. No big shock there; but we'll see what can be done in the next couple weeks.

I got close on a couple trades.. Some owners still sucking a little wind at QB. Here's hoping he maintains his value after this week and doesn't dissapoint all the lofty prognos. As long as I win, I hope he shreds on my bench.
