Reid to GOP: "It's your fault if stimulus stalls..."

As the $820 billion stimulus package heads to the upper chamber, Senate Democratic leaders are launching a pre-emptive strike.

In a Thursday afternoon news conference, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid urged Senate Republicans not to line up against the bill, and says Republicans will be blamed for any delay in the landmark economic legislation.

“If we don’t [pass the bill], it’s not our fault, we’re trying,” Reid said. “The president has done a remarkable job covering all the bases on Capitol Hill.”

And Senate Vice Chairman Charles Schumer said that any GOP effort to lay the blame on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for failing to win was “very unfair.”

Reid argued that Senate Democrats had also been accommodating, allowing for an amendment process folding in GOP-favored tax cuts.

The pre-emptive brush-back pitch came the day after House Republicans voted in unison to reject the stimulus package. The bill passed in a 244-188 vote.

“For those in the House that voted against this package, their alternative is what?” asked Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin.

Schumer piled on the tough talk, accusing House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, an outspoken opponent of the package, of “leading his members off the cliff.”

Reid pushed back on GOP complaints that not all of the spending in the package was truly stimulative.

"Stimulus is in the eye of the beholder," Reid said

NO NO NO

You dweebie focktard! Stimulus should be quantifiable. If you are going to spend money to create jobs you should have a damn good idea how many, and what kind of, jobs will be created.

This isn't focking art, you incredible nincompoop!

How the hell did pelosi get any power? She's the worst person in government right now. She's always blaming blaming blaming. Her idea's are way too far left and she's the most partisan person i've ever seen. Calling her partisan is an understatement. She's trying to lead the party even further left than it already is. I don't ever see her working with republicans. She's too busy bashing them. The next person is her partner harry reid.

Well, she completly ignores the GOP and doesn't focking care about receiving for input from them. She doesn't even bother to make an effort to pretend to reach out and bashes them constantly. If the GOP has a good idea, she'll reflexively oppose it just out of spite. And that seems as bad as it gets, but it's not even close. She's not the worst one.

Tom DeLay is the poster child of partisanship. DeLay redistricted Texas mid-term when the GOP took control of the governorship and legislature to squeeze five Dem seats to the GOP. Unprecidented in US history. His K-Street plan pressured businesses not to give money to Democrats or face reprisals, he refused to negotiate with Dems ever and marched the GOP on party line vote after party line vote along with his nitwit president and handpicked cuckold speaker, to push America to this nightmare.

The House has been as nasty place to be in the minority since Newt Gingrich's time (and I liked Gingrich, just saying). Pelosi is dishing out the same meal she was served when the GOP ran things. Payback is a b*tch.

It's better for America if the politicians compromised and got along better in the House, but the GOP were a$$holes and are getting the same treatment they provided the Dems so have no right to complain. Frankly it's fun to see these Bushworshiping sh*tfocks whine and moan.

One of the side benefits of GWB being out of office is that people can focus on what tools Pelosi and Reid are. They have made a living on the "we suck less than them" mantra for too long. It is time for them to put up or shut up when it comes to real leadership. I think that they will fail miserably, but the hope is that they do it quickly since we don't have a ton of time to wait for them to make this economic situation worse.

If Obama has the true skills to be a great President, he will pull those two focks into his office and set them straight. I doubt that he will do that, but it is what needs to be done.

Reid to GOP: "It's your fault if stimulus stalls..."

Why do I get the feeling that in 2010, this won't be viewed as a negative. Might even be a catchy campaign slogan. The more the public learns about this "stimulus package" the more people hate it. I know the democrats won the elections but it's safe to say that they are over reaching here.
