Well, that's one less recovering drug addict for New York.

 

Rush Limbaugh, the conservative talk show king, announced this week that he's ditching his New York digs and finding another alternate location for his top-rated show in the wake of Gov. Paterson's "stupid, punitive, massive tax increases."

 

"I'm going to get out of there totally, 'cause this is just absurd," railed Limbaugh, who famously acknowledged an addiction to painkillers in October 2003.

 

Of Albany's proposed hikes, which will boost income taxes on households earning more than $300,000 a year, El Rushbo said they were "punishing the achievers for the mistakes... on the part of a bunch of corrupt politicians."

 

And he promised to "lead the way" out of New York for similarly afflicted taxpayers.

 

"I'm going to look for an alternative studio somewhere outside New York, perhaps Texas," he fumed.

 

Not that Limbaugh spends much time here anyway. He taped about 15 shows in New York last year - mostly to avoid hurricanes lurking near his Florida base, he told listeners.

 

He added that he always pays city and state taxes on income he earns on those New York shows.

 

He also owns an apartment here - a 4,000 square-foot penthouse in a Fifth Ave. building where similar units have recently sold for more than $10 million, records show.

 

Limbaugh promised to sell the pad, but not before suggesting a new state slogan to Paterson: "New York: It's Never Enough

 

New York to Rush: "Don't let the screen door hit you on the way out."

 

And with that, New York Governor David Paterson laughed off a millionaire packing up and heading out. Paterson even found it funny.

 

"If I knew that would be the result," he said of Rush's leaving, "I would've thought about the taxes earlier."

Not at all doosh. It's just that when you start a thread off with the words..."Well, that's one less recovering drug addict for New York.", I would really like to know what your source was. I'm well aware of Rush's plan to move. He has been talking about it for some time. But thanks for making such a big deal about it. The fact that he spends 15 days a year in New York makes this story very newsworthy.

My point was, if people like Rush, Trump, and every other multi-millionare decide they've had enough of paying high taxes in New York and get up and leave, who do you think the New York legislators are going to go after to make up for that loss? They haven't said they are going to raise the taxes on the middle class. But what if 15% of everyone making half a million dollars or more decides to leave New York because of the new tax structure. That's a lot of tax revenue lost. Where do they go to make up for it? What if they lost the tax revenue from one thousand people with earings of the likes of Rush and Trump? It's not a pimple anymore. It's a problem.

 

As far as me being an alias, I joined this site in August of 07. I joined because of the FF info. Not to post in here with the geeks. I came to the geek bored toward the end of the 08 FF season. I was board and had a lot of time on my hands because work has been slow and there are some interesting people in here. If you do or don't believe me, I don't really care. If you don't believe me, use that little brain of yours and try and remember who may have posted in here from New Orleans and talked about it proudly. I tell you what. Go back to the time around Katrina and see if there were any posters from New Orleans posting. If I would have been here, I would have been giving out updates at night. I would have been dispelling myths and giving you the truth as to what was happening. I never left. I would have been telling ya'll about the gunfire I was hearing every night. Or my quest to find beer and vodka when there was a mandatory curfew. Or something I hope everyone gets to enjoy once in their life, no mail service for three months. That meant no bills. We got three months of bills in four days when we finally did get mail, but that was nice. I would have had so much thread material, I would have out posted your sorry threads easily.
