pittnthat 0 Posted October 3, 2009 Cliff notes, In a property dispute over things that were to be left in my new house. Things were taken that were to stay(drapes, window treatments,etc...) Turns out the former owner of the house is related to a Steeler who lives on my street. He knocks on my door and tries to intimidate your friend Pittnthat, and tries to recoup several things they left behind in my house on accident. I tell him that we have a signed contract for the drapes and will only return their things upon return of ours. He then tries the "I have the police in my back pocket being a Steeler card....I say "cool,I'll show them the contract that they owe us the drapes." He then has choice words for me and I stand toe to toe with him. Just wasn't gonna give in on this one. The police are called and they side with me and the law states that anything they don't take at final walkthrough is my property. But it will take a civil suit to get my drapes back. It would be a slam dunk as I have a contract with their sigs. So it kinda sucks that I had such a bad experience with a player of the team I grew up loving. This meathead just kept saying get the stuff and that just wasn't gonna happen. If a Charger can go headhunting on a certain D-lineman then that would be great. I can never cheer this player on again. Anyone else have a weird experience with the team they love?

prisoners 2 Posted October 3, 2009 Not my team, but Flozelle Adams from the Cowboys came into my pizza place about 12 years ago. This is before he was a starter. sirensong 111 Posted October 3, 2009 i've met a pretty good number of past and present dallas players at the various bars i've worked, and have had good experiences with all of them. wore rayfield wright's SB ring, showed julius jones how to waitress (rookie hazing incident), and have BSed with everyone from emmitt and rocket to romo and TO. sat down and drank with canty for a couple of hours once, and let me tell you--that guy is funny. my sister, however, met dorsett a couple of years in a grocery store at about midnight on a thursday. she was an enormous dorsett fan ever since childhood, and about flipped when she met him. the problem was that he was drunk. she shook hi hand, said "nice to meet you", and walked off. and he followed her around the store for about 30min. absolutely would not leave her alone, even though she told him that she wa married with 3 kids. finally, she had to go to the manager of whole foods to ask for an escort out to the parking lot. needless to say, we're no longer fans of that particular guy. BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted October 3, 2009 pittnhat I believe you. I've met many NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB and athletes over the years. had a beer with Marvelous Marvin Hagler, told Michael Jordan "It's an honor to meet the 2nd greatest basketball player of all time",partied with Marshall Faulk drinking Grey Goose straight from the bottle on his rooftop in Mission Bay, partied with all the Chargers several times, met Jo Jo White, wore Andre Tippets AFC Championship ring, was drinking Red Bull and Vodkas with Chris Chelios at Murphy's Bleachers in Chicago I did tell Nomar he was a ###### while I was on the field at Petco and he was stretching but other than that it's all been good. So I have no reason not to believe you 100 percent. I do have one question? Why not try to turn it into a nice situation where you actually befriend the Steeler instead of it being a confrontation? I think I know the answer. If he approached me demanding anything I would have bristled and dug my feet in the ground a bit but I might not have drawn a line in the sand. But if he followed that up telling me he has the police on his side I would have absolutely turned physical like you did. I would have made it clear that he crossed a line. I mean to come to your house and try to intimidate you like that IN YOUR CITY, when he is JUST A VISITOR! Un-FREAKING ACCEPTABLE! I'm assuming that's what pissed you off? If I was you I wouldn't name the player because it might hurt the team. But then again maybe he's a ###### everywhere he goes and he deserves to go.
jerryskids 5,393 Posted October 4, 2009 I'm sorry to disappoint but I did not have words with an NFL lineman today, but I did yesterday with former lineman Russell Davis, because his son takes taekwondo at the studio at which I teach. They were very kind words, he is a very nice guy. Also, since we are name dropping, Matt Leinart bought the house two doors down from me, and I met him several times, and then sold it to Amare Stoudamire, whom I've also met several times. I've also almost run over Ricky Henderson on his bike, but please don't tell him, he didn't know it was me. I'm sure most people here have daily conversations with NFL lineman, and since I didn't, I feel like I am letting the bored down by describing a conversation I had yesterday. pittnthat 0 Posted October 4, 2009 is it Aaron Smith? No.....and im not gonna go down the line with everyone. I really dont want the cops and the news here in the same day...Not Smith though. I hear he is all class.might be a starter might not be... he does have 2 rings though and is not a scrub. Two rings not a scrub. Well the way Pittsburg does defense I hardly think you will find many scrubs on the roster in the D Line. There are currently 6 players on the roster for the nose tackle and defensive ends spots for the steelers. One of the is a rookie with no rings. That takes it to 5 players. You said no to Aaron Smith so that leaves 4 players. So it has to be Casey Hampton Chris Hoke Travis Kirschke Brett Keisel Hampton is a brotha, and he probably didnt live in your white bread wasp area. Keisel was given Chief Award”, given annually to the player who best exemplifies the spirit of cooperation with the media. He sounds like a nice guy. Surely this cant be the thug you described. Hoke went to BYU and might be a mormon. Morons aint trying to muscle people out of a home and jack some curtains. Travis Kirschke is the thug in question. he has two rings and has played in 16 games for the past few years. He was drafted by the Lions and was in Detroit for 5 years which explains his need to play the "I have a ring and am on a good team now" card. he was from UCLA and we all know that place is a thug factory. I'm going with the latter.

If u think I posted 2 brag about where i live then feel free to think that. Im sure their r others that have had a similar run in with a player that made them question my old "blind loyalty"belief.

That's all well and good, but you basically told a story about a pro athlete who committed a crime. That's kinda juicy shiot. If you had left it at "pro athlete" your story would be entertaining as you purported to relay it. But Steeler... D-line... not a scrub... two rings... you are being an attention wh0re practically begging somebody to figure it out, on a message bored with random people, which I suspect has already successfully happened. Congrats I guess.
stonewall 647 Posted October 4, 2009 Gotta share my NFL player experience. In 1990, I was in Eskimoe Joes Bar in Stillwater. My friend said to me...."Look over there at that table, it is Thurman Thomas!". Indeed it was, sitting there with 2 other big guys who I didnt recognize. This was a couple of years after he went pro, and musta been visiting his old stomping grounds at OK. State. Anyway, I gathered a napkin and pen and waited until his friends had left the table for a bit, then walked over and politely told him I was a big fan and would love to get his autogragh. He then looked up at me with a snarl and said, "You better get away from me before I get up from here and kick your a**". I said, "OK". Of course, I have depised him ever since. I don't know if he is normally a great guy and was just drunk, in a terrible mood, or what. I had been a big fan of his through college (playing with Barry Sanders at O State) and then with Buffalo, but this response was just unjustified and un-called-for. Go figure.
