Greedo 13 Posted December 21, 2009 I don't believe in Christmas, friend. Christians stole a pagan holiday, Sol Invictus, to stamp out that alternative belief system. Jesus wasn't born on 12/25. Besides, there are many religions celebrating holidays this time of year, not just Christianity. Happy Holidays.

naomi 360 Posted December 22, 2009 I don't believe in Christmas, friend. Christians stole a pagan holiday, Sol Invictus, to stamp out that alternative belief system. Jesus wasn't born on 12/25. Besides, there are many religions celebrating holidays this time of year, not just Christianity. Happy Holidays. I haven't really looked at Dec. 25th as the birth of Jesus because of the probable piggybacking off of a pagan observance. Figure it must have been linked by Roman Catholics. But this is really interesting. The biblical claims about the Bethlehem star have been studied. Because the solar system works with regularity we can go back and assess what the heavens should have looked like. When we do this, (and evidently this guy's work holds up to scrutiny, he's comparing observations from the bible to what computer programs net) what was going on in the heavens and the biblical account compliment each other. For millennia, believers, scoffers and the curious have wondered at the Biblical account of the Star. The Bible recounts unusual, or even impossible astronomical events at Christ's birth. For many doubters, the account of the Star is easily dismissed as myth. For many believers, it's a mystery accepted on faith. But what happens if we combine current historical scholarship, astronomical fact and an open mind? Judge for yourself... site The bible talks about the stars being signs and symbols. Before it was written there was Judeo-Christian prophecy said to be depicted in the stars that was known about...believers and unbelievers alike were aware of it. Accounts of the meaning and significance differed later, and many of the Pagan traditions sprung from the same well. IF there was and is narrative reason and rhyme up there, it's worth looking into who originally appealed to it.
