Reality 3,121 Posted January 3, 2010 Tough break Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter and the Boston Globe both report that Wes Welker has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and MCL. It's the same injury that knocked Tom Brady out for the season in 2008. Unfortunately, Welker won't get the same 16-week head start to rehab. Barring a borderline miraculous recovery, Welker will be a strong candidate to begin next year on the PUP list, which would keep him out until Week 7. Julian Edelman will be the Pats' primary slot receiver in the postseason, and most likely keep the job through the start of 2010. I might have lost track of all playoff scenarios, but doesn't the game mean something to NE as far as seeding, even if it's a flip flop with Cincy? I might be wrong. jgcrawfish 232 Posted January 3, 2010 I love me some Wes Welker (Texas Tech boy!). The Pats just lost their post-season. That sure looked like more than a "put some ice on it" injury. Buh-bye Pats fans!!!

Just saw it....open field...######, he is done isnt he.

Just saw it....open field...######, he is done isnt he. Why wouldn't they be playing? The #3 seed is still up for grabs. If New England and Cinci were to both win their wild-card games and then upset the Colts and Chargers (not entirely out of the realm of possibility), then the #3 seed winds up hosting the AFC Championship game. Foghorn Leghorn 0 Posted January 3, 2010 good one.......yeah.......welker doesnt need his acl he will be back at the second half today....... Who said it was his ACL? There are three ligaments in the knee....who knows which one(s) may have been damaged.
phillybear 366 Posted January 3, 2010 It's all a part of a degenerative knee condition. Welker should man up, rub some dirt on it, and walk it off.

kmbryant09 1 Posted January 3, 2010 if nothing else this proves one thing. Colts fans are indeed morons Right, cause playing for an undefeated, greatest season of all time (the Colts) is the same as playing in an essentially meaningless game for the Pats. PATSSOX 22 Posted January 3, 2010 Right, cause playing for an undefeated, greatest season of all time (the Colts) is the same as playing in an essentially meaningless game for the Pats. It is football and dam injuries happen. Someone said it was his ACL and another said they could see it swelling SH!T no one know a dam thing yet. It is really bad that Welker got hurt but dam he could have gotten hurt on first play in next weeks playoff game and that would be a hell of alot worse than getting hurt today. The Pats starters, in my opinion, need to play and keep trying to get better and keep rythm. Eldelman will step up and be Welker like if Welker cant go next week. ROCKET 0 Posted January 3, 2010 This is devestating news for the Pats. It was a fluke play that happened early in the first quarter. Definately not BB's fault as it's not like it was late into the game. Rotten luck, fock
Cuse9 129 Posted January 3, 2010 I think with Belechicks three SB rings, he prolly knows a little more than any of us. Let's just assume he knows his team better than we do and he does what works for him. Players get hurt, whether it's pre-season, regular season finale, the first round of the playoffs or the Super Bowl, it's part of the game.
NewbieJr 541 Posted January 3, 2010 Look at the bright side, Pats fans. Now you have an excuse why the Pats are no longer a serious contender instead of it becoming more and more blaringly obvioud that they just can't win it without the cheating-advantage. kmbryant09 1 Posted January 3, 2010 Technically, this isn't a meaningless game.... If anything, judging by these Pats fans on here, the Pats would actually rather lose this game so they can play the Colts instead of the Chargers. So winning this game doesn't really mean anything. He's got Purple Reign for his Vikings alter-ego and even a Kyle_Orton_something if Denver gets lucky. They'll just stop posting one by one as each of his teams get eliminated. Foghorn Leghorn 0 Posted January 3, 2010 If anything, judging by these Pats fans on here, the Pats would actually rather lose this game so they can play the Colts instead of the Chargers. So winning this game doesn't really mean anything. Arizona proved last year that a low seed could be in a position to host the conference championship game. It's definitely conceivable that the Pats and Bengals could meet - I'd say home-field for that game is something to play for.

So winning this game doesn't really mean anything. Well yes I would rather see the Patriots play the Colts in 2nd round but with the 3 seed you could possibly host the championship after the Colts get upset YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME
PsychoBelichickFan 0 Posted January 3, 2010 I blame belichick for this...rest starters.........a playoff 3 is no better than a 4. you need to be healthy in the tournament and belichick just lost us a title.......unbelievable
