Gepetto 988 Posted June 10, 2010 Report: Broncos threaten Dumervil paycut The Denver Post reports the Broncos recently sent a letter to unsigned restricted free agent Elvis Dumervil indicating that they will exercise their right to reduce his 2010 salary to 110 percent of last year's pay if he doesn't sign his tender by June 15. It was easy to understand the Broncos' hard-line stance in response to the petulance of Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, but this is simply unreasonable. Dumervil, a holdover from the previous regime, has been a good soldier and an ultra-productive player. This threat will go over like a lead balloon in the Broncos' locker room. Per the Post, Logan Mankins, Vincent Jackson, and Marcus McNeill received similar letters from their teams. Jun. 10 - 9:16 am et -Rotoworld.com - Not sure how 110% of last year's salary is a decrease . What the F are the Broncos thinking. DUMB.

RLLD 3,455 Posted June 11, 2010 As the players are only too happy to point out when they start their own little hold out for more money.....its a business......hopefully the "locker room" recognizes that this little notion works both ways, and keep their little arses in line.... PackYourNut 47 Posted June 11, 2010 Was thinking the same thing! Must be some new math. The Broncos are actually shooting for average, aren't they? The tender offer, which he has not signed, is significantly hire then 110% of last years salary. And if he doesn't sign it, then he is only gonna get the 110% of last years. Which is a reduction. RoadLizard 73 Posted June 15, 2010 I dunno. Teams are maybe tired of gettign burned with these mega deals where more often than not the player gets a little too cozy and their production slips or they suddenly get hurt. Happens all the time. For years, the ball was clearly inthe players court so to speak and lately it might be turning around a little bit. I have no problem with it. One defensive player does NOT put you over the top and with caps and spending being regined in you cant blame a team for being frugal.
