Jeepz 0 Posted August 17, 2010 This sucks. It really does. I waffled back and forth on my 5th round pick, from Celek to an RB and thinking ok maybe RB/RB but since I don't like any of my choices I decided just to stick with Celek and go one RB and then maybe another will be more exciting at a later round. We'll see. Now where's my coin?
Jeepz 0 Posted August 17, 2010 I have NO idea if that was a good pick or not. I had three different ways I wanted to go, all with questions of some sort. We'll see. Here's hoping someone else excites me in a later round, 'cause I didn't want any of them at this turn *shrug*

Here's hoping someone else excites me in a later round, 'cause I didn't want any of them at this turn *shrug* At this point in the draft, almost every player has some question marks, so you have to focus on what sticks out to you about a given player. Personally, I really like Beanie as a runner. He looked really good last year. However, the Cards' offense is in a state of flux right now and no one knows what to expect. Also, it wasn't a good sign that Beanie didn't start the Cards' first preseason game.....and worked well into the second quarter with the second teamers. WTF Whiz? I don't know what any of that is about....maybe just a motivational ploy...we'll see. I don't think it's a bad pick per se....but I think there's probably 4-5 other backs I'd probably have taken here.
Jeepz 0 Posted August 17, 2010 If there's one thing I've learned from this draft, never take a QB early. I don't have it in me to recover by taking Rodgers where I did. Someone else can pull it off, but I'm so far off my board and out of my comfort level here, I have no idea what to expect each round. Still, this is very interesting, seeing everyone's comments and watching the teams form in this way.

Vikings4ever 550 Posted August 17, 2010 TE and QB... 2 positions I have no problem late. 2 positions I'm OK with taking a lesser talent, because both are fairly deep. But Witten and Kolb are 2 of the top players at their positions. Both positions are likely to be decimated by the time I get to pick next. I'm not going to get anyone near their talents come round 7. At this point, there's a lot of RBs and WRs who are very similar.

Seems Qb's slide up just a little quicker do to the facr taht there are more Rb's to go around. I'm the one who needs to worry about backs cuz I only have 1. Lol! ...but i'm not

You're being too hard on yourself man...I didn't like the Celek pick...but what the heck do I know? It's still a solid squad.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted August 17, 2010 Vernon's tweaked knee is probably nothing, but it was enough for me to take Witten over him.
WhiteWonder 2,729 Posted August 17, 2010 But Witten and Kolb are 2 of the top players at their positions. i'm nit picking because i like the Kolb selection but I won't call Kolb a top player at his position until he actually proves it. All we really have to go by right now is a 2 game sample size and hype. however he is certainly a high upside guy we would expect to play as a top 10 QB. remote controller 143 Posted August 17, 2010 My roster said I needed a back here but my gut and my projections led me to 90 receptions and 8-10 td's, so Ward it is.
WhiteWonder 2,729 Posted August 17, 2010 Vernon Davis fell to me in the June mock as well. He is my 5th ranked TE behind Gates, Celek, Clark and Finley... although I have Finley, davis and Witten pretty close as 4,5,6. don't really have much to say about him other than selecting him continues my balance theme. I now feel pretty free to do just about anything with the rest of my picks.

I probably should have said "projected to be" one of the players at his position. I'd say Kolb is the last of this tier of QBs, and I like this tier a lot more than the next tier. Gladiators 1,984 Posted August 17, 2010 Thank God Mike walker went. I accidentally crossed him off instead of Welker earlier and this cleans that up!carry-on! That's why I took him. I was worried he might drop a couple more rounds. Then you'd get flustered, have trouble picking, and this whole draft would go down the tubes. Your welcome everyone. I'm the one who needs to worry about backs cuz I only have 1. Lol! ...but i'm not I gotta tell you, I was AMAZED at how fast the RBs went in Rounds 2 and 3. I really expected to get one of the last few that fell right before my pick. I'm used to my competitive league (been with them for 5 years) and there would have been a couple more WRs taken I think, or more likely the QB that I took. At that point I wasn't disappointed with Benson, figuring he's a steady if not flashy producer, but I was surprised a bit. 1. Doing things out of our norm is exactly why we do mock. 2. You're being too hard on yourself man...I didn't like the Celek pick...but what the heck do I know? It's still a solid squad. 1. I love the challenge. It's causing me to think about players I haven't thought about in the past two or three weeks, having gotten into a groove in my mocks. This is definitely a good thing, and all the chatter here will help me evaluate players for my auction league. 2. And I'm good with all the commentary, seriously. It's what I was hoping to get out of this. You all are new to me, I've gotten into a rhythm with my league-mates, so this is good perspective, good info. I'm not bristling at the crit as much as at the challenge of my picks. I am hard on myself because I'm competitive in ff. It's funny, I'm a somewhat competitive guy in my life, but when it comes to ff it cranks up to 11 and I want to squeeze the very last little point out of my roster. It's one thing, in 6 years, I've never been able to knock - thinking that there is ALWAYS one right pick out there. We all know there's not, but it doesn't stop my brain from thinking there is As for my squad, it's solid, I'm pleased with what I've got given the early decision to go QB, I'm just not used to NOT having two of the top-20 RBs on the board. Like I said elsewhere, I'm definitely out of my comfort zone here and really having to think, so this is really quite fun (though I may be giving off vibes to the contrary). Carry on! NAn 39 Posted August 17, 2010 Kevin re: Favre pick and again in interest of learning... Not sure if you track draft and owners picks but both Ray Lewis and myself had our starting QBs already. Likely we wouldn't have picked another one here on 6/7 turn (I definitely wasn't)so would have been a good bet that you could have gone with another position and gotten Favre on comeback in 7th. NAn 39 Posted August 17, 2010 Had to go back and make sure Moreno wasn't taken. No sure thing, but value here was nice and kid has tons of upside...if he can just stay healthy, which is no given with him, but worth a short as my #3RB here.
Jeepz 0 Posted August 17, 2010 Setting aside the fact that I was drafting RB2 and not RB3, I seriously considered Wells/Moreno on the last turn, but in additional to the injury issue I just cannot stand Belicheck Jr., and the addition of Fargas cemented that fact even further. I'm not saying Moreno, Buckhalter, and Fargas are Maroney, Morris and Taylor, I'm just saying that McDaniels is a Jr. Butthead, and I'm not interested in trying to figure him out. I reasoned that Addai adds a little more in PPR and hamstring issues concern me as they tend to linger. but he is great value in the 6th and im shocked he wasn't drafted a little earlier. It is a good sign that the Broncos didn't bring in anyone else other than fargas to spell their ailing Rb corp. I feel Moreno, if healthy, will haul in a nice handful or two more receptions than Addai when all is said and done.

Kevinv86 1 Posted August 18, 2010 Nan i did notice you both had your quarterback. Also my next selection I have no worries the guy will be there and with the news release I figured the timing of this pick would be a lot more intersting.
