pee-diddy 27 Posted September 3, 2010 Anyone have any idea as to what Julian Edelman's injury is? Not sure how healthy Welker will be for the beginning of the season based on his recent comments. Edelman is on waivers right now in my league. Edelman could be huge for the beginning of the season if Welker goes PUP or sits out a few games.
Matt Mueller 146 Posted September 3, 2010 What were Welker's comments? Link?
Matt Mueller 146 Posted September 3, 2010 'Wes Welker acknowledged following Thursday's preseason finale that he "doesn't feel the same" as he did pre-knee surgery. "I still feel like I’m a long ways off from that," Welker admitted. "People say it looks the same. I don’t feel the same." Welker finished the preseason with five grabs for 75 yards. He'll be on the field against Cincinnati in Week 1, but we're unsure if he's ready for a full complement of snaps.' http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?id=2964&sport=nfl
Jeepz 0 Posted September 3, 2010 I'm looking at the same thing and just waiting on some news so I know if I should pounce on Edelmen or not.
The Football Guru 222 Posted September 3, 2010 I hate to say it, but this was predictable. There's not way that Welker could be working at 100% six months removed from his surgery. I'm not saying he's going on PUP, but reports of his triumphant return were definitely exaggerated. I think I was generous in giving him the benefit of doubt in regards to suggesting he may be able to play like his old self after the Pats' bye. I've drafted Edelman in as many leagues as it made sense to grab him in. Everyone I've ever heard talk about ACL surgery says it takes at least a year to trust the knee again and doctors suggest that it takes about 18 months to regain explosiveness. Considering Wes' game is quickness and explosion, he's a poor bet at his current ADP. I think Welker will miss time this season and, if rushed, will not make it through the season. If you are in a highly competitive league and Edelman is somehow available, don't wait to pick up Edelman!
GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted September 3, 2010 I'm figuring Tory Holt moves into the #2 position.
The Postman 3 Posted September 3, 2010 What are you guys smokin? If they were playing Welker in the preseason games and he got the numbers that he did, he will start opposite Moss. They would not have been risking further injury if they didnt think he was ready to go. No he won't feel "normal" for a while, but he will still start and post decent to good numbers. Don't react to these folks who constantly yell that the sky is falling!!

YoMamasBreathStinks 0 Posted September 3, 2010 They are playing him against my personal better judgment, but with that said he's looked pretty good in PS ball.

pee-diddy 27 Posted September 4, 2010 So does anyone actually have an idea as to what Edelman's injury even is? I don't wanna pick him up if he, too, will miss time.
IGotWorms 4,057 Posted September 4, 2010 Edelman's injury is a complete unknown right now. He's missed the last two pre-season games and isn't practicing at all. My *guess* is that it isn't a major injury and the Pats are just being cautious, but then again Edelman could land on IR tomorrow and I wouldn't be that surprised. Edelman has not practiced in over 2 weeks. That worries me. Anybody that thinks Welker is going to be the same Welker of the last 3 years is crazy. He will get his, but it is going to take time for him to get back to feeling comfortable. That is why the Pats went out and revamped their TE group, they will need them. Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted September 4, 2010 Welker can't go on PUP at this point. He has to go on IR for the whole season or he is active. He will be active week 1. Heck, he was returning punts in the 4th preseason game. As far as Edelman goes, he has not been practicing and I don't think that he has been spotted at practice. That usually does not bode well.
