WhiteWonder 2,735 Posted June 8, 2011 V4E taking Dez Bryant made this an easy choice for me. I likely would have taken Holmes either way but his choice left me with no second guessing. Santonio Holmes had 740 and 6 last year in 12 games with a new team. The big stat i like? nearly 8 targets per game. If he stays in New York, his rapport will only build and if he leaves via free agency? I'm confident he will land with a good team and produce.
WhiteWonder 2,735 Posted June 8, 2011 and i'm now interested to hear Vikes opinion on D-Will, he was the other back in consideration when i chose Best. Just ended up being too many question marks for me.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted June 8, 2011 Williams does have questions, but his talent is undeniable. Word is that he should be completely healthy, and he'll challenge for a starting job wherever he goes. He's really the last back I'd be comfortable with as a number 2 (in a non-PPR) unless unbelievable value presents itself at other positions.

You see Williams 18 TD year and salivate but he hasnt finished a season 2 years in a row now. I think any place he goes he will split time.... as will Best so i went with my gut. Jeepz 0 Posted June 9, 2011 What the hell, with 18 picks before my next, I figured I better get my QB. I was toying with WR here, but not seriously. I think the WRs are really bunched for a while, and figure I'm more likely to find one I can be happy with 19 picks from now as opposed to what I might find with my QB options. We'll have to see if my QB fears pan out. And as for waiting and being happy with my QB options in later rounds, I tried that ONCE in the past six years and hated every minute of it. Here's hoping there is good WR2 material next round.
remote controller 143 Posted June 9, 2011 7 Qb's gone early in the 5th. That seems like a few more than normal???? 4 TE's gone recently seems about normal. Looking over the teams and the next round or two, it sure seems like most of us are getting what we want and filling in nicely. Matt's Eagles Foster/Hillis at Rb #1 and #2 looks pretty damn stout! ADP and DeWill stand out also! Combined with Manning and DeSean, it's another nice start for V4E! As pointed out earlier, Ray has loaded up on TD production with Calvin, Gates, Brady, and Turner. As WhiteWonder alluded to, Fitz, Wallace, and Holmes don't suck at Wr!

As WhiteWonder alluded to, Fitz, Wallace, and Holmes don't suck at Wr! it has been alot of QB's and there are still tons of good options out there. QB seems extra deep this year. I love Vikes start. as you said, he always seems to have awesome teams. Not a huge D-jax fan but can't argue with his 5 guys so far. Much of what i do in this draft probably won't be sexy. I doubt outsiders will look at my roster once the mock is over and think i have a top 3 team. but i do have a plan, and targets!

I have never seen as great a divide though. There are some great starters, some good starters, a few on the verge guys, then there is a mess of "who is the Starter?" robb 81 Posted June 9, 2011 Damn you JScott......Romo was my next choice. Great pick in mid-5th and a value selection. I think he could end up top 5 with all the weapons he has around him this year, amarried and settled down, great coach. It's all there for him in 2011. Jeepz 0 Posted June 9, 2011 Romo was my other QB consideration at 5.03. Not sure why I went Schaub other than I've had the guy the past few years and it seems like tradition. With AJ, the way Foster catches out of the backfield, and if they can get the TE going again, I could see lots of yards and about the same scoring opportunities as Romo. I really liked 4 QBs there, could have lived with the fifth I suppose, but with four guys needing QBs between me and my next pick, the chances of being stuck with that fifth option just didn't excite me. I don't know what it is, but I HATE managing the QB position.

I think he could end up top 5 with all the weapons he has around him this year Agreed. RC and I had discussed this very point. I was hoping he'd make it past Dan (Matt's already has a QB). And when Jeepz took Schaub I thought that might prompt Dan to nab Romo. The only other player I thought he might take was Davis, which he did. IMO Davis & Romo/Schaub represented the last of the tier in their respective positions.

Dan 66 Posted June 9, 2011 I considered Romo at 5.4 very strongly, but decided on a different strategy. Hating the Cowboys was not singularly a reason for skipping Romo, as I separate my passions pretty well. But Romo gets touted up there consistently, and then has shaky late seasons. But the biggest reason was wanting a solid corps to build around in the heart of my lineup. I'm content. RB Jamaal Charles RB Matt Forte WR Reggie Wayne WR Steve Johnson TE Vernon Davis I'll take that as a solid start.

remote controller 143 Posted June 9, 2011 Theres room for DeWill and Moreno in the same backfield if it comes to that. It hasn't happened yet, but John Fox's offense used the run alot. The only two comments from the Broncos were Fox's initial comment that they wanted to run the ball effectively and it took more than one back to do that, and Elways comment that he expected a breakout year from Moreno. All the rest of the speculation has come from the press. In an injury plagued year where he was injured on the very first day of the preseason, Moreno had 1019 combined yards and 8 TD's. He missed 3 games. (wks 3,4,and 5) His best weeks were weeks 6-14. He was active even when the team trailed and they trailed alot, because of his receiving ability. 3 of his TD's came in the passing game. I give him brownie points for playing through his injury and finishing the year. Many felt his preseason injury was going to put him on the shelf for good. His ADP is currently 37 on the Calculator, and 35th on the concensus ADP from FBG's. Being the 23rd RB taken in this draft I have no concerns that he won't outproduce that position. If DeWill doesn't go to Denver, he's a steal!

remote controller 143 Posted June 9, 2011 Well, that and also that they don't consider him an everydown back..... Read it closer. This is the speculation I spoke about. He interviewed Elway, but these are his words. These words give us just about as good of an understanding of the RB situation as we have on the QB situation. The Broncos are really keeping all their comments close to vest this preaseason. The only words from Elway and Fox are the ones I posted. If they take Dewill, he continues to split carries in a run first offense. If they don't take Dewill???? No where in my post did I say he was gonna be a workhorse. He is gonna be a fine #2 back. robb 81 Posted June 9, 2011 Again..............the guy I wanted (Boldin) taken the pick before me. Damn you RLLD. But, plan "B" was Britt who with his head screwed on will do just fine. Not thrilled about his QB situation, but he can be productive.
remote controller 143 Posted June 9, 2011 I read it, I know it wasn't a beat reporter, but instead a columnist.....but a columnist with connections making a statement that I trust..... oh lol! Given the way the draft went down, I trust this. ------------------------------------------------------------ Broncos | Hoping for big season from Knowshon Moreno Wed May 11, 03:01 PM Denver Broncos executive vice president of player personnel John Elway said the team is hoping for a breakout season from RB Knowshon Moreno in 2011. Our view: The Broncos did not use one of their many draft picks on a back from this deep class, so they must have some faith in Moreno. Expect the team to address the position in free agency, but also give Moreno the opportunity to break out as they hope he does. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I also read somewhere else to wait and see the caliber of the Free Agent they acquire. That will speak volumes. If they grab DeWill, I'm not that concerned, The two of them will do well, and maybe DeWill can finish a season. Grabbing Moreno at pick #57 as a #2 doesn't carry much risk. I'd venture to say, less risk than drafting Turner at pick #14 as your #1 knowing Moreno almsot equaled his output last season while missing 3 games.
