Good but little known Netflix watch instantly movies

Recommended Posts

So I watched this movie the other night called "Ink". I had never heard of it before but it sounded interesting, so I watched it. Holy sh1t it was pretty good! Really trippy, highly original, and visually spectacular. Nice little story too.

Another movie I saw a while ago was an Australian thriller called "Beautiful". I had never heard of this one before either. I wouldn't say it was great, but man it was a visual treat. It sucked me in and held my interest even though I was fully aware that the script and story weren't that good. It was pretty interesting too to see what the Aussies come up with when they do a thriller.

So any others out there? I'm looking to build up my Netflix Watch Instantly queue and thought others might be in the same boat.

If you're a basketball fan, or just interested in a little known era of the game, check out On the Shoulders of Giants. Produced by Kareem Abdul Jabbar, it chronicles the New York Rens, the greatest team in the pre-segregation era of the sport. Nicely done doc.

Great Idea for a thread

I never know what to watch.

A good movie is "Pirates of Silicon Valley", about Apple and Microsoft.

I'd also suggest a documentary about Blackwater if you're interested. It's called "Iraq's Guns for Hire".

Also, not little known and not a movie...but if you've never seen the TV Show "Arrested Development", I highly suggest it. All three seasons are on there.

We just finished Arrested Development. Had seen only bits of it in the past. Truly funny stuff.

After watching, I was truly disappointed there weren't any more seasons.

The good news is there's talk of a movie...

My link

Will Arnett and Michael Cera are on record as saying they think it'll happen too. That would be great

Documentaries are the way to be

I hear the movie Imbruge is good, Colin Farrell is in it which was enough for me to pass on it. I heard this from some of my Hollywood embeded friends, so I assume it must be pretty decent.

Agreed with Next Gen on Tell No One and Ip Man, both very good.

There's a Korean movie called Oldboy that's seriously fvcked up and worth watching. Check that one out.

In Bruges is really good. INK was pretty good too. Those of you into SCI-FI stuff will really like it.

Exit Through the Gift Shop is now available, if anyone hasn't seen that yet. The King of Kong, SLC Punk and Cocaine Cowboys are also good docs.

Restrepo, a documentary about a platoon in Afghanistan. Real battle scene footage. Pretty cool.

The damned united, a movie based on a true story of a soccer coach in England. I'm not a big soccer fan but this movie was a pleasant surprise when I took a shot in the dark at a movie.

Lot of good Nazi and holocaust documentaries. Ww2 in hd and the civil war are two of my favorites.

I just saw 'a woman in berlin' which was kind of disturbing. It's based on german woman's diary about the fall of Berlin when the soviets just raped everything that moved in Berlin. A German movie.

Flame and Citron is about two Dutch resistance fighters who assassinate Dutch collaborators. True story about 2 real guys. Movie is in Danish.

The endless summer, it's a classic surfer documentary movie. It's so old that it's political incorrectness is funny. They travel around the world surfing including to Africa. They joke about getting eaten by the natives and stuff like that. Good surfing film as well.

We just watched Chain Reaction...certainly not academy award material, but it was entertaining, at least I stayed awake for the whole thing!

Cocaine Cowboys are also good docs.

I just saw "Cocaine Cowboys II, Hustlin with the Godmother" I had no idea Griselda Blanco was a bigger success than Pablo Escobar, Charles Cosby makes that statement in the doc anyway. I cant believe Hollywood hasnt come up for a movie idea for this yet, Im thinkin big dollars could be grossed on that.

Yah, that one was really good too. Maybe Hollywood is afraid, since she's out of prison in Columbia somewhere. I doubt she's picked a new career!

Also recently watched the doc "Wonderful Whites of West Virginia". Follows a crazed hillbilly family that basically terrorizes Boone County, WV. Really entertaining.

The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia. I started a thread about this documentary about 4-5 months ago, ive seen it twice more since, I cant take my eyes off. That has to without question, be the trashiest family tree in America, maybe the entire world.

I have another one to suggest: Happy Accidents. It's a cool sci-fi/romantic movie with Vincent D'Nofrio and the sexiest actress alive (IMO), Marisa Tomei. If you're looking for a movie to watch with your gal this one will hopefully keep both of you interested.

Pandorum (2009)- Scifi with Dennis Quaid... I had never heard of it. Watched it after the wife and kids went to bed one weekend and was super suprised how much I dug it. Very much a sleeper and I'm usually up on decent scifi... this just totally missed my radar.

Moon (2009) - Again Scifi... this one I found when doing one of the "movie like" links. The movie keeps you guessing with a great ending.

In Bruges was pretty good. I laughed at the American's as well.... "yer big as elephents".
