Next year, I will be taking a flyer on

Saw him in person last year and watched a lot of the Fiesta bowl last night. Blackmon is flat out a beast. He's the best prospect I've seen since Calvin Johnson. He's on my draft list right now.

A few years ago, I was watching a bowl game and hakeem nicks was a freakin' animal.

I said "i am going to draft him with my 1st round dynasty pick"

of course, I did not and I drafted Knoshow Moreno 1st overall

Luckily I was able to trade Moreno for the #1 pick last year and I drafted Ryan Williams

That's saying something because the 2 stud rookies, Green and Jones, did pretty well this year and both have the size/speed/ability to be Calvin-like.

Is it just me or does Blackmon look like he's about 30 years old?

I feel your pain. In my dynasty league I lost Mikel LeShoure (this years 1st round pick), Jahvid Best (last year 1st round pick) and Jamaal Charles (my 1st round pick a 4 yrs ago) to injuries this season. Only guy who finished healthy was LeSean McCoy (1st rounder 3 yrs ago). I am still carrying all of them AND picked up Ryan Williams, who was dropped. If I get most of them back I have an untouchable RB roster long term and will have the big decision of taking Blackmon vs Luck (QB's are worth big pts in that league) to set my team potentially for years to come. I'll actually likely look to package Best/LeShoure to move up in the 1st round and see if I can get Blackmon and either Luck or RGIII.

Yeah, he looks old, but he's still just a junior. Jones is bigger, but Blackmon is just a physical and maybe faster. Green reminds me of Randy Moss (in all the good ways), but I worry that he's not built as solidly. But both those guys are tremendous. I got to see a couple of Dez Bryants games and will say that Blackmon is better. I got to see Crabtree a few years back when he was at Texas Tech and Blackmon will say that Blackmon is flat out better. I was pretty high on Julio Jones last year, actually slightly higher on him than on AJ Green just because I thought his game was more NFL ready and he was physically better prepared to take the beating. I should probably amend my statement a bit...

Calvin Johnson

Justin Blackmon/Julio Jones/AJ Green

Dez Bryant

Michael Crabtree

Those are how I see guys in the last few years. I'm probably guilty of a bit too "newer is better" take on it, so I'll say I would put Blackmon in at least the same class as Jones and Green right now. That's somewhat biased because I've seen him in person and didn't get the opportunity to see them the same way. That being said, I would have said after watching Blackmon in his bowl game last year that he was in the same class as Jones/Green even as an underclassman.

So you are already guarenteed one of those 2? Draft by previous years finish? Why would anyone trade away a chance to get possibly the next calvin johnson or aaron rodgers on their team for javid concussion best and a guy with an acl tear? Especially when you say you are already getting one of them. Stop lying.

Based on order of finish I will get one of Luck, Blackmon, Trent Richardson or RGIII. I'm not exactly sure of the draft order but know it's in the top 4 (believe it's 3rd but can't check). RB is a big need in our league, so Richardson will be gone and Luck is going to Garner a lot of interest. RGIII may fall a bit, which is my hope, maybe allowing me to move back up with an early 2nd round pick (I have 2) and a package of players.

I didn't say I'd get it, I said I'd look to package it. It's not a lie, it's off-the-charts wishfull thinking. However, the point is that I could potentially put together a package of RB's for a team with need there and drastically improve my team by addressing two bigger needs. If you're the guy who's been riding Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams is back, and healthy, and you get an offer of Williams/Leshoure/Best for your 4th overall pick...it's still tempting. I've also got Shonn Greene and some decent WR prospects as well. I've got a lot of depth, but no difference makers. My team is better than it's record simply because of the injuries.

I would love to see Carolina get Blackmon in the draft.

This frightens the crap out of me. Like Cam Newton isn't good enough without teams having to account for Steve Smith AND Justin Blackmon? :shocking: And factor in those two RB's????

Based on the scouting reports and games I've seen, he kind of reminds me of TO. He's bigger & can beat press coverage/jams, but isn't exceptionally fast. He has the occasional drop, but should be a physical enough receiver to be very good in the NFL.

He's actually only listed at 6'1", but I think he's true to that size (unlike Crabtree who's stats were inflated). I don't know the 40 time, but the kid is field fast, you hardly ever see anybody run him down. His physicality reminds me of TO, but I think he's faster than TO, although clearly not as big. I'm clearly very high on the kid though.

No chance, St. Louis will be drafting Blackmon

He looked pretty manly last night. IF he goes to a team with a decent QB, I'd take a chance on him too.

DB's aren't allowed to play defense in the new and improved NFL.

They're going to take a WR 2nd overall, with all of the holes they need to fill and a new coaching staff/phylosophy? Don't bet on it.

I saw him in person at this year's Fiesta Bowl....front row right behind the goal post.

This dude is a beast and should have, at least, an AJ Green-type impact in year one.

Agreed. They could sell that pick for a ton of picks to whomever covets RGIII.

Justin Blackmon/Julio Jones/AJ Green

Really like Blackmon and was around the OSU program for enough years to still get some feedback from folks there. They love him. Say his work ethic is second to none. Still learning the game; predominantly a basketball player in high school.

Jones is 6'3" and Green is an inch taller. Blackmon is a legit 6'1". It concerns me just a bit, especially when it's pretty well acknowledged that he's not a speed demon.

I think he'll be an excellent pro. I actually see more Anquan Boldin than the other guys mentioned.

I was trying to think of pro camparisons as well. He does a great job going across the middle, he breaks tackles, has just enough speed to take it the distance, and I think he's a really tough son of a ######.

I going with a Boldin/TO hybrid which is not a bad thing

Have been watching and attending OSU games since the early 80's. Graduated there. Was there to see Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders on the same team! We also had Dez and Blackmon on the same team at one time.

What Blackmon has besides raw physical ability is heart. Like the announcers kept saying last night, he is a hungry animal that needs to be fed. He is ALWAYS hungry.......much more than Dez and twice as smart. Could be the next Fitz. Did you see the look on Fitzys face when he broke that tackle and took it 66 yards to the house last night? Fitz was like "yeah, son....thats how we roll". BTW, speed is not an issue with Blackmon. He is obviously no Wallace, but did you see him pulling away on that long run last night?

Depending on where Blackmon lands (QB situation), he definitely has a chance to shine next season.
