CJ Spiller or Lesean Mccoy in PPR?

I have the #1 pick overall in a Keeper League and my draft is tom..This has been killing me for the past month!! Spiller and Mccoy are the top rbs that are available...Last week I thought I was going to pick spiller but watching mccoy the other night is really changing my mind..I already kept Charles and Dez Bryant and now just kind of leary of spiller with fred jackson there and the bills offense overall..So please help me out would appreciate it

Since your handle is eaglesfreak, how come McCoy isn't your choice already or is that a different eagles team?

 

The personnel in Philly seams to have picked up Chip Kelly's offense & bought in. While Spiller may be a bit more dynamic, I trust the players around McCoy a bit more. McCoy would be my choice.

I think McCoy is the safer pick, but that Spiller has a higher ceiling.

I think Spiller would be the better choices. Not only is his ceiling higher but the eagles defense is atrocious. You will see more passing plays since the eagles will most likely be behind in a lot of games. Either RB would be a good choice but I think Spiller is the better choice

Voted Spiller. McCoy has risk as well, as it is unclear how Kelly's offense will translate to the NFL. Spiller averages 1 yd/carry more than McCoy and is finally going to be the bellcow.

Voted Spiller. McCoy has risk as well, as it is unclear how Kelly's offense will translate to the NFL. Spiller averages 1 yd/carry more than McCoy and is finally going to be the bellcow.

Good points. The only reason I say McCoy is safer is that I trust the Philly offense a bit more, due to having more talent overall. If I were given the two to choose from, I'd most likely go with Spiller. If I went with Spiller, I'd follow up with a safer RB2, where I might go a little riskier RB2 if I took McCoy.

A week ago I would've said Spiller, and I still like Spiller a lot. But I've moved McCoy way up based on how I've seen that Philly offense move the ball that last couple of weeks. I like both in that they both have good, clearly defined handcuffs (Jackson and Brown). If I were a Philly fan, I'd take McCoy. Mind the yo yo.

Spiller. Hasn't been used as much as McCoy so you should be able to hold him longer, in theory.

Tough decision:

 

McCoy

Pros: Its your team and you will get to see your guy a ton (always fun), will be a top 10RB for several years, better O-line

Cons: Kelly's offense is an unknown (but we all think it favors the run), extremely talented backup, more mileage (keepers)

 

Spiller

Pros: Younger and electric, could be a top 3RB for years, he will get a ton of touches they just dont have anyone else

Cons: Buffalo QB situation sucks, he had one great season (small sample size), its Buffalo they aren't going to be on TV much its not as much fun if you can't "see" your guys, he is going to see a ton of stacked boxes

 

I say McCoy because you will get to see him all the time being an Eagles fan and it will kill you everytime he has a good game for another team.

I just want to point out that Brown in Philly is much more likely to earn playing time than Jackson in Buffalo. Spiller is the show now; his coach is going to run him until he pukes.

 

Anyway, clearly this is close. Objectively, Spiller is consistently drafted and expert-rated slightly higher than McCoy, but it is by a negligible margin. It's like picking rib eye vs. new york steaks; you can't go wrong (unless you don't pick rib eye j/k).

 

One other thing I'll say about the homer pick -- sometimes it has mixed emotions. You watch the eagles get down to the 1 yard line and they bring in Brown, and you will be WTF$#@! while you watch Brown pound it in, momentarily forgetting that you should be happy that your team scored a TD.

McCoy and Vick showing well in the preseason has made me feel much better about the team.

 

Kolb looked awful in preseason from what I saw. Manuel looks good but his health is in question and well he's a raw rookie.

 

Right now I feel better about Philly's overal team situation and I think that might McCoy my pick.

I'd go with McCoy. Better offense around him, better coach. I don't think it will be more than a max of 20 pts. Both should have very good years.

 

No reason McCoy should be outside top 10. I'd put him ahead of Charles, Richardson, Morris, and Lynch.
