Damn those are some mean looking dudes in that mug shot lineup. Whomever said it looks like the lineup off a 24 show was spot on. Decisions like this are why Presidents age 2x faster in office than the rest of us. It's one of the oldest hard decisions in the book; hell we see it in movies all the time. Do you save the one person at the expense of "possibly" putting other people at risk and giving the bad guys leverage? There is no good answer. They will investigate him and come up with nothing. No way Obama let's the fact he is a deserter become official because it would confirm this deal was stupid. I don't know if it's true or not, but the Geneva convention makes us release pow's. Maybe it's a run up to that. First, they are not classified as POWs. I posted an article on the last page that said we've been negotiating with terrorists this entire war. They already are - the Taliban and Al Qaeda have been using their resources to kidnap Americans for years." Prisoner exchanges take place at the ground level all the time in Afghanistan, and Gen. David Petraeus, now the head of the CIA, has pointed out in discussions about Bowe that U.S. forces made distasteful swaps in Iraq - including one involving Qais Khazali, a Shiite extremist who orchestrated the kidnapping and execution of four U.S. soldiers in Karbala in 2007.
