I've seen crazy, but not sure I've seen it at the level he's at!!

That's one of the things I've been advocating. A few possibilities IMO:

 

1. The diagnosis was so obvious they felt pathologic confirmation was unnecessary. If she had specific characteristics of the disease which one would rarely see otherwise, this might be the case. Problem is, the symptoms of mitochondrial disease are generally nonspecific. Now the fact that her sister also has a mitochondrial disorder would increase the chances of her having it, as we inherit our mitochondrial DNA maternally. But mitochondrial disease can also occur sporadically as well, possibly due to environmental exposures. It would be interesting to know if her sister had a biopsy.

 

2. Muscle biopsy can be painful. This doesn't really hold water as the Tufts doctors were willing to perform other painful procedures on her with appropriate anesthesia.

 

3. A non-invasive test was suggestive. There are gene tests which would confirm the diagnosis. But the admitting doc who raised the suspicion of medical child abuse surely would have asked for record of such testing, or perform it if available at BCH. One of the linked articles states that less specific blood testing (amino acid levels IIRC) was not suggestive of mitochondrial disease.

 

4. She could have both a mitochondrial disorder and suffer medical child abuse. This is a bigger stretch I think, and would really require a huge burden of proof that her parents are nutty. But some of BCH's actions (leaving her on vitamins and antioxidant cocktail) suggest this may be their position.

 

What BCH stipulated after she was hospitalized has no bearing on how her "mitochondrial disorder" was diagnosed in the first place...

Her sister did have a muscle biopsy that was indicative of mitochondrial disease. That is one reason that Dr. Korson did not perform that test on Justina. He might have made a different decision had he known about the disaster that was going to befall her at Children's. It is unethical for Children's to say, "You can't "prove" that she has mitochondrial disease because you didn't do a muscle biopsy previously, and now you've lost your chance to prove it because we're in charge and we won't let you." It's also possible that Justina's health is too precarious now to risk doing a muscle biopsy.

I am saying that based on your self reported understanding of what you read that I said contrasted with what I actually said, you fit the definition of "delusional thinking", which is usually associated with what the APA calls "schizophrenia".

 

Given that, by your own admission, your mother was diagnosed with so called "schizophrenia", the psychotic episode you just experienced makes you a candidate for a schizophrenia diagnosis since by the shrinks own definition of "schizophrenia", having one or two of the parents diagnosed with "schizophrenia" increases the likelihood that the child also develops the disorder (in fact, a hereditary, confirmed history history of "schizophrenia" is used as a confirmation tool when people come to the shrink office with self reported psychotic episodes like the one you just had).

 

All I am saying is that you might be closer to experience "forced neuroleptics" in your own skin than you might imagine . I had certainly no idea that you had verifiable psychotic episodes .

One thing I have to say though. Note that my only intent coming to this forum was to provide serious scholarship about how psychiatry has become so corrupt that even leaders of mainstream psychiatry are distancing themselves from it. Basically what Brice Levine summarizes in 10 minutes here,

OK, what's up with this "OldMaid" poster. She smells truly fishy. I see people calling her a "middle school girl", now a "7th grader" all consistent with indeed, a 10-12 year old. What has she done in the past to have such reputation in the forums (in addition to what she has already done here).

 

As I have said, I came to this forum because it shows up in a Google search when you restrict results to the last 24 hours (as many supporters of Justina do to learn about the most recent developments). I didn't even know what "fantasy football" was before coming here.

I might or I might not. Again, this thing SHOWS UP in a Google search restricted to the last 24 hours when there are updates. So even when I try to ignore it, when somebody posts something, I am always curious about what they posted.

 

Note that I haven't posted at any other fftoday.com forums because I don't give a sh1t about fantasy football or the other off topics issues this crowd regularly talks about. So if you don't like what I write, you can always ignored this particular thread .
