When did BB last have a great WR to refuse in the first place? He let Welker go, but Welker is hardly a guy who commands double teams and can fight for air balls. GMs predict when a WR is nearing steep decline in play (well, stupid ones might not); Moss and Welker were let go for good (business) reasons.

Actually, the Patriots paid Moss when his contract came up after he was traded from the Raiders.

I'm a big believer in Dallas, but not necessarily a fan even though I live here. I like what they've morphed into this season, building on the only true strength in the draft even in the face of defensive calamity. My God, people need to realize just how bad this defense is. How many folks drafted Terrence Williams thinking Dallas would be in 52-49 type games this year with that defense?

They've been respectable on that side of the ball because of their running game. Against Philly the wheels came off. Missed a couple 3rd down conversions on offense and boom, they're down 21-0. It is what it is. No 'implosion.' No choke job. This team needs to play it's game to win. Run the football, convert your third downs, keep the defense on the sideline.

I actually like their chances, and think they'll beat Philly in that rematch for the division. If anybody folds it'll be Sanchez, who'll get booed out of the yard.

I wish I shared your optimism. I just don't think we (currently) have the defensive personnel to contain C. Kelly's offense, no matter who is qb'ing. I do think we will play better - but I have no faith of a win.......... But first things first, and this 'looking ahead' is scaring the crap out of me too. Chicago is nothing to take for granted or fool around with. In case nobody has noticed - we seem to play down to sh!tty teams, see Washington. And last time I checked, Chicago's big ass wrs whip our asses up and down the field. I would not be surprised if we lost tonight - not at all. If we do - goodbye playoffs.

I think tonight is going to be the Forte and Murray show. Both teams aren't great at run stopping, and both teams have been loudly muttering that they've gotten away from running the ball and subsequently failing.

Where has Dallas saying they have gotten away from the run? Seems like it's been the opposite.

It was just on ESPN. They've averaged 7 rushes fewer per game the last several.

My prediction is that both backs are over 160 total yards tonight.

Dallas lost the Washington game when it passed the ball on 2nd and goal from the 3 yard line early in the 3rd quarter. On a 50/50 play like that I don't care if you got Jerry Rice out there one on one, you pound the ball down the other teams throat. Just another case of Dez not making the play as well, but it should never come to that. My point being that one instance they failed to play their game and I'm afraid it's going to cost them.

As a Cowboy fan I wouldn't go into panic mode over the Philly game. They played their game but failed to convert on several key third downs in the first half to sustain drives. Normally that offense is fairly efficient and I'd trust it to get those key first downs in the future.

The Bears are awful, their sportswriters were piling dirt on that defense weeks ago. The Cowboys need to play their game, sustain drives and come away with points. If they trade TDs, but take 6-7 minutes on their drives, that Bear defense will be done by quarter 4, and Murray can run all over them. I've actually got DeMarco and his 8k plus salary as an easy fan duel start.

The running game, coupled with key 3rd down conversions. That's a powerful hammer. You couple that with Romo, Dez, and Witten? Oh yeah, they're right there in the NFC. Especially with that tiebreaker over Seattle. They just need to play their game and sustain drives. H

team that was predicted by most to finish well below .500 due to flawed team structure and massive dead money is currently at .667 and in contention for the playoffs.

if this flawed team went 0-4 to close out the season, it would not be an 'implosion'. it would simply be the team's existing problems catching up with them.

"that horse is in contention, even though he has 2 broken legs"

"nah, he'll probably 'implode' on the stretch"

right...

Preseason predictions mean nothing and never have. They started 6-1 and right now they're 8-4. If they miss the playoffs because they go 0-4 or 1-3 in Dec, there won't be many people (whether it be fans, reporters, coaches, players or the owner) creating the excuse "it was simply the team's existing problems catching up with them". Gimme a break

"that horse is in contention, oops faded down the stretch"

"he would've won but he had 2 broken legs"

excuses....excuses

Let's win 3 of 4 and head into the playoff with some momentum.

All the local sports stations here are talking about the weather and the cold...... It's supposed to be low to middle 30's - when did that become football cold? As long as it's not wet - should be no issue at all. Our boys better nut up and deal with it.

agree here--PHI's offense is tailor made to exploit the primary weaknesses of the DAL D.

"this is not a playoff quality roster" is not an excuse--it's a statement of fact. DAL is a middleweight trying to fight heavyweights. they have a big right hook but a glass chin, and they're giving up 30#. coaches can hide a lot of weaknesses with schemes, but talent tells as you get to this time of year.

Pretty good game by Dallas, nice to see them bounce back a bit...... That being said, I have no disillusions or false hopes to stop Philly. It's one thing to beat up and handle the Bears - the game next week will be totally different... I do feel better about the fact we will have 10 days to rest and prepare - last time we played Philly we had 3 1/2 days and it showed. Hopefully we can make it more of a game.

Let's not discount the Sanchez factor. He's good for two turnovers a game. Just have to take those and turn them into 7-8 minute TD drives. It's not a pipe dream.

I'm staring to feel a little better about our chances this week. I really underestimated how big of an impact only having 3 1/2 days off before we played the Igs on turkey day. I still think we will have to score 30 to win - but I think we might be able to do it.

BTW - anyone see the Philly game?

The way Seattle and Detroit are playing, the Boys need to take care of business in Philly if they want to get in.

Detroit has the Vikes and Chicago in their next 2 games - talk about having the table set up for you. Even with GB in their last game - the have 2 gifts right ahead of them.

Has it always been, or when did Conference winning % trump head-to-head in terms of tie breaking? Seattle is ahead of us based on that - but clearly we beat them. :dunno:

I believe it only applies in a three-way tie. If DET, SEA and Dallas are all vying for two spots, the Boys are odd man out. I hope Jerry Jones keeps that 2nd and goal from the 3 yard line call against Washington in the back of his mind when it comes to picking coaches for next year. I'm afraid that call is looming very large right now.

I'm not big on hindsight, but I posted as much in the game time thread that night.

11 p.m. Sunday night - I will have a pretty definite position on whether or not I want Red to return next year. The Thanksgiving day game was brutal - but to have to play that game on the heels of playing in London 2 weeks before and then a Sunday night game just 4 days prior - the team physically had no chance....... But no excuses this time - this time the players and coaches will of had 10 days to rest and prepare for Philly this time around. If we lay another egg and the coaching staff looks as confused and lost as last time - Garrett needs to call a realtor and put his house on the market.

agree--the real killer is ARI not taking a nosedive out of competition this weekend. even if they lose out, they'll still be a threat due to the tiebreaker.

to my mind, there was never a doubt that the road to the playoffs went through philadelphia. i was convinced that DAL would have to sweep, so it's a miracle that they're still in it despite the head-to-head loss. even if DAL wins this week, they're still not safe.

stupid chiefs

Did you watch the game? Omg - that was one of the worst PI calls I've ever seen. The Chefs got royally focked right there - totally turned the game.

Dude you can hear a mouse pissing on a cotton ball it's so quiet in here. I hear they let Bradley Fletcher ride on their bandwagon and the entire contraption went up in flames... It's taking half the fire departments in Philly to put the conflagration out.

You know, normally as a Raider fan I could give a rat's ass. And it personally pains me to see Jerry Jones' fat mug smiling in the post gamers. But I respect the way Dallas is going about it's business, with a smash mouth running game and a beat up vet at quarterback. Not a single analyst picked Dallas in the pre-game shows, and all it's been all week was how big a class difference there was between the two teams.

Philly held DeMarco Murray to 2.6 yards per rush. Normally, any other team would take it's ball and go home by abandoning the running game. The Cowboys ran the ball THIRTY-EIGHT freaking times and held it for 42 minutes out of a 60 minute game. Four turnovers or not, that is a downright throttling.

I agree with your earlier point, this Division is by no means over. Philly could very easily still win it outright and us miss the playoffs altogether. The Igs have 2 real softballs the last 2 games and we have a very tough one next week. A. Luck is no Sanchez - he is very likely going to light Carr and the rest of our guys up like a Xmas tree.

I don't think the Eagles are going to win out personally. The Skins gave them everything they could handle the first matchup...and that was with Foles.

And after that they have to beat a Giants team that has only one thing to play for...knocking a divisional opponent out? Nah.

Eagles will split these last two. IF they're lucky

I'd like to disagree, but I really can't Skins always play the Eagles tough. RGIII showcasing his talents to his potential new coach, Chip Kelly.

Luck doesn't get the protection to do that much damage. I agree if Dallas cannot get any pressure, it's a long day and the Colts could put up 35+.

But if can get to him like we actually got to Sanchez at times last night, Dallas has a chance. Luck's great, but dang that dude turns it over a lot.
