Charleston SC Church Shooting

I think the only real distinctions are in scale and duration. The scale of the horrors of the holocaust was far greater but in a compressed period of time. The numbers associated with slavery while lower span a period of hundreds of years. The Jews have already recovered, the shadow of slavery stretches even into the future, but is hampered by a sick mentality of blame and spite as well.

If you look back at history slavery was not uncommon throughout the world. My ancestors were slaves a few centuries ago but we got over it and moved on when given the opportunity. In 1860 free Blacks also owned slaves in this country and at a greater percentage than whites. Native Americans also owned slaves. In 1860 1.4 percent of white Americans owned slaves, my ancestors did not live here and were being oppressed in Europe at the time. Why doesn't anyone talk about the tens of thousands of white Americans that lost there lives fighting to end slavery?

People do talk about it...though, this seems more of a conversation about those who were fighting against those white people trying to end slavery.

HTH

Bolded at least shows you tried forming a thought of your own rather than your usual cut and paste/plagiarism.

You are correct, that being said the country of America was founded on some rather specific circumstances, and for a very long time the institution of slavery existed within a society that was pointedly designed to not allow it.

Once ended, the spirit of slavery if not the outright implementation, remained for a very long time.....into even the 1970's.

We cannot reasonably expect such a large group of people to be given equal access, and in many areas enhanced access, to opportunity and "fix" an over 200 year span of oppression and subjugation.

Now, that being said, the incessant whining and b!tching is now itself an institution within that AA community. What began within the civil rights movement as an absolute requirement to compel change has now morphed into a catch-all for any unpleasant circumstance. In reality this mentality is a restraint to success, but its presence is like some kind of endorphic addiction for AA's.

While society is far more open and opportunities as well, the AA community will continue to struggle under the weight of its own self-imposed tyranny until they break free from the dogma handed down to them by corrupt leadership.

I disagree with your assertion about the country's being designed specifically not to allow slavery. For pete's sake our founding fathers, whom we revere as all-knowing gods when it comes to the Second Amendment. Considered black people to the three-fifths of a person.

All men are created equal. From the outset there was debate and issues with the concept of slavery, but in order to have a unified group of states against England they had to give in, it was always an issue in a nation founded on freedom for all. It is a major facet in why slavery became such an issue within such a short span of our nations creation. You simply cannot have a nation based on freedom and equality and allow slavery.
