edjr 6,578 Posted September 30, 2015 Sure...it was a huge blunder. Also a reason he quit focusing on just the offense and calling plays and is now overseeing everything. Other than BB...which coaches are actually better than him right now? You're way to far into the forest to see the trees. That's just it, isn't it? the NFL has a huge lack of talent in it's head coaches Guys like Marvin Lewis and Lovie Smith awful
edjr 6,578 Posted September 30, 2015 Rodgers won, Marino didn't. Rodgers is Steve Young at this point...injuries hurting what could have been better so far (just as the injuries caught up to him) I will give you that Rodgers calf last year cost them going to the Super Bowl. That's just it, isn't it? the NFL has a huge lack of talent in it's head coaches Guys like Marvin Lewis and Lovie Smith awful Sure, not a lot of great coaches. But if we are going to call the guy bad...lets understand he is still top 5 in the league right now. He has a track record with QBs and offense and does that well. Like BB, he is tied to his QB as far as how much success they will have. BB has obviously had more...no doubt.

NewbieJr 541 Posted September 30, 2015 I am not sure why people even argue between Rodgers and Brady. Both are great. The true difference between them is the person coaching their respective teams. Mike McCarthy is a focking dunce. Only has a job because of Rodgers, Just like Manning and Dungy. How did Belichick do in Cleveland and with Bledsoe in New England? I'm pretty sure both coaches success is tied to their quarterback.

Magnificent Bastard 190 Posted September 30, 2015 Who is better? Coughlin. Beat him twice in his place in the playoffs with the inferior team. Blew him out in one of them. And he has 2 rings. Case dismissed.

NewbieJr 541 Posted September 30, 2015 Outstanding coaches don't go 6 and 10, 6 and 10, 7 and 9 and 8 and 8. Do outstanding coaches beat supposedly-outstanding coaches two straight times in the biggest game of the year?
edjr 6,578 Posted September 30, 2015 Do outstanding coaches beat supposedly-outstanding coaches two straight times in the biggest game of the year? they don't go .500 or under 4 times in 12 years. Giants fans were calling for his head at least 2 seasons out of those 12 even McCarthy has only had 2 such seasons

And let's not forget about his work with an expansion team in Jacksonville. Seriously, it's not even close.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted September 30, 2015 Are any of his injuries relative to his style of play? Maybe some...the collarbone while escaping the pocket...could happen anywhere...same with the calf.
Mike Honcho 5,127 Posted September 30, 2015 Are any of his injuries relative to his style of play? Collarbone was escaping pressure, stepping up in the pocket, something all QB's would do. Torn calf-muscle he was jog-running out of the pocket to extend play when he tore it, still complete pass. That looked more like a freak thing than anything. Perhaps, you could blame style of play on concussion in 2010, he had run, slid and got creamed by a helmet to helmet shout from defender. Had he not run, he doesn't miss 1.5 games there. Magnificent Bastard 190 Posted September 30, 2015 Talking right now...not in 2007 or 2011. Coughlin is done. Right. Then the rookie head coach in Atlanta is 3-0. Just like McCarthy. If we're talking about today and all.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted September 30, 2015 Right. Then the rookie head coach in Atlanta is 3-0. Just like McCarthy. If we're talking about today and all. Yes, because a 3 game sample size is enough. Crygate 7 Posted September 30, 2015 Also some pretty big injuries derailed a few of his seasons (collar bone and last year's calf...anyone think he does not beat Seattle if 100% last year?...and he would have destroyed NE...like they did in GB) Not a perfect coach, but still a great coach. he destroyed new England in green bay ? Link ? Oh and as the goat belichick would say, his teams are built on hard work and preparation, not excuses.
NewbieJr 541 Posted September 30, 2015 This is such a silly debate. It's like Federer and Nadal. Federer (Belichick) is the better all around coach. Head to head, Nadal (Coughlin) has his number.

Beat M MCCarthy twice in the playoffs, on the road. Until MCCarthy surpasses that, he's not better. He may some day, but as of right now it's TC hands down. Magnificent Bastard 190 Posted September 30, 2015 I remember watching the NFC championship game in 2007 and seeing Plaxico give a beat down to supposed all pro cornerback Al Harris and wondering when McCarthy was going to get him some help.
