dpbuddha 9 Posted August 23, 2015 League drafted Saturday and Adams went undrafted. We have very short benches, so most people have good backups filling their roster. Now that Jordy is down, I'm guessing there are people who are going to speculate on Adams' value and throw a good amount of their FAAB dollars at him...maybe I'm one of them. What's reasonable at this point in the (pre)season to spend on a guy like Adams? We have $100 FAAB to spend and last year was our first time using FAAB as a league and I don't think I spent hardly any of my budget, so I'm still pretty inexperienced with it. phillygrrl08 139 Posted August 23, 2015 I'd be willing to bid half my $$$ on him, or even go $51-$58.
NEWPOSTERGUY! 288 Posted August 23, 2015 think ya gotta go higher than 60%, this could be a season defining move.
LunaTick 30 Posted August 23, 2015 FAAB? is this league on ESPN. If so, I have questions about FAAB.

the newb 23 Posted August 23, 2015 I wouldn't get carried away. It's a long season. Noones even sure what this does to Adams yet. He doesn't play Jordys position. Do u own Jordy? Who are your other wrs?
phillygrrl08 139 Posted August 23, 2015 think ya gotta go higher than 60%, this could be a season defining move. I am guessing the winning bid will go in the 90-95% range for the person who really needs the help at WR. Last year someone spent about that for Josh Gordon knowing he'd still be suspended for a portion of the season. Then he was SOL for the rest of the season. And this exact situation is why FAAB leagues are best. How many hours of sleep are going to be lost wondering just how much owners are willing to bid? the newb 23 Posted August 24, 2015 If I was comfortable with my wrs I'd definitely let someone else blow their wad on Adams
NEWPOSTERGUY! 288 Posted August 24, 2015 If I was comfortable with my wrs I'd definitely let someone else blow their wad on Adamsyeah ... I mean, why blow cash on Aaron Rodger's newly minted starting wr ... ya know, the best qb in the league and all much wiser to save your cash and invest in whoever emerges in St Louis, amirite? the newb 23 Posted August 24, 2015 yeah ... I mean, why blow cash on Aaron Rodger's newly minted starting wr ... ya know, the best qb in the league and all much wiser to save your cash and invest in whoever emerges in St Louis, amirite? I said if I was comfortable with my wrs. Is Adams going to take over Jordys role in that offense? Idk. Neither do you. It's a long season, I'm not comfortable blowing half my faab $ before it starts. If you want to, go for it
LunaTick 30 Posted August 24, 2015 How do the various site handle FAAB. I'm on ESPN and suspect theirs is a single bid method. Wondering if any do a bit more Ebay to it. Start amout, interval, with a cap.

sontzu 0 Posted August 24, 2015 If you really want him, you are going to have to blow your load because someone will. Personally, I will pass. If it was a running back or Adams was to become the #1, then I'd go all in. Packers still have Cobb as the #1 and Janis.
dpbuddha 9 Posted August 24, 2015 I like my WRs just fine...they will get me through the season, but it's hard to resist such potential. Ugh.

You never know. But you'll be happy you didn't spend a bunch later in the season imo
dpbuddha 9 Posted August 26, 2015 Well...I dropped $36 of my $100 FAAB and landed him, giving Colston the boot. It's silent bidding (or whatever it's called) so I have no idea what anyone else may have bid. The next most expensive guy to go was Jarvis Landry for $17. NEWPOSTERGUY! 288 Posted August 27, 2015 You got a good deal - hellz yeah ya know, an overlooked aspect here is that if even if you are stacked at wr, if this kid takes off, now you have solid trade bait at the position from whomever you desire to deal
dpbuddha 9 Posted August 27, 2015 well, the owner of Jordy is the guy that should be willing to spend the most (in theory) as he is now down a WR. I talked to the Jordy owner...he was apparently completely unaware that waivers were starting already and didn't even put in a bid on Adams. I feel bad for him, but if he cared he would have paid more attention.
SexyRexy 60 Posted August 27, 2015 throw 37 at him. its a long season you don't want to spend all your money before the third preseason game.
Dungheap 0 Posted August 28, 2015 Just and FYI for folks who use FAAB on MFL. You can actually check to see what people bid after the FAAB process runs. I discovered this last year and use it to my advantage. Just go to Reports-->Franchise-->Previously Processed Waivers.

MDC 7,404 Posted August 28, 2015 Having a guy vaulted into a starting spot on a high powered offense during the preseason is pretty rare, at least a player who seems to have ability and was a bit of a sleeper even before his situation improved. In general though most of the waiver wire gems emerge pretty early in the season (by week 4) so spending a big chunk of $ early isn't a bad deal if you think you've got a player. A few years ago I dropped $36 of my $100 budget on Julius Thomas early and got roundly mocked for it before he went off for 12 TDs. I've had this backfire but much less often.
