cousinal111 57 Posted November 5, 2015 1) Reset each week based on records? OR 2) Reverse Draft order after draft & don't reset the entire season? The reason I ask is because my wife's league uses option 1 & she has missed on Diggs, Lewis, DeAngelo, McFadden, Floyd, Stevie Johnson & Langford among others recently. She is 8-0 but has been winning with smoke and mirrors the last few weeks. She faces a team this week thats 0-8 but has all the top pickups the last 4-5 weeks & is actually favored to beat her. Any thoughts?
Saeapp 4 Posted November 5, 2015 Ours is reverse draft order... 10 overall pick gets WW priority 1, 9 gets 2, etc. It changes week to week as folks use their WW priority. Meaning if #10 uses his #1 waiver wire pick one week, de drops to 10 going forward, and moves back up as others use their priority.
redsrback 30 Posted November 5, 2015 ! league of ours has pick-up based on record. It is a dumb rule in my opinion because it rewards people who don't come prepared for the draft. This year I did not draft a kicker and waited 2 games to pick 1 up. I also was hoping to lose this week so I had a chance to get Deangelo Williams which I did. I was already behind the 8 ball in this league from drafting number 1. if I do happen to make the play-offs which is 6 of 12, I should be favored.

This would be option 2 & is how every league I've ever been in does it. Option 1 seems like a rule for a kids league in my opinion.

erikthebassist 41 Posted November 5, 2015 ours does worst to first and I hate it, but we also have a 10 team league with deep benches so it's not as much of an issue. I still got diggs even though I was middle of the pack because only about 3 teams are actively working the wire like I am.
Mike Nice 40 Posted November 5, 2015 The only way to do it is FAAB.
cavern 70 Posted November 5, 2015 imo, reverse order of standings can work well for dynasty leagues where leagues can very easily get top heavy and it can be VERY hard to dig out of the basement. gives the bottom dwellers more reason to stay actively involved and not give up
jgcrawfish 232 Posted November 5, 2015 Lots of leagues I've played in are reverse order and I think it's the worst. I much prefer leagues where it's carried over week to week. But there's a catch there as well. The best team in one of my leagues (currently 8-0 and murdering everybody) has had extraordinary luck this year with not getting hurt. As a result he really didn't have to use one ww request for the first 3 weeks and ended up with #1 priority when Devonta Freeman was the top pickup. That has fueled him toward his undefeated season. Add to it that he's only used WW twice since then, once to pickup Charcandrick West after Charles went out, and one this past week to pickup Jeremy Langford. It's really a bit unfair because he just flat out hasn't had any injuries and gets to save his priority. With that typed, FA blind bidding is THE way to go. If you're judicious with your FA $ and willing to spending when players mean that much to you, it's seriously the most fair way to go.

Sounds like all the other Owners used waivers every week instead of waiting for players to clear. No injuries isn't unfair, it's good luck.

He's made the 3rd lowest amount of moves in a 12 teamer, and 1/2 of them have been of the c0ckblock variety, which I completely understand. "Unfair" was probably not the best word choice on my part, but luck has been HUGE for him. I try not to use waivers if I can avoid, but certain players (DeAngelo Williams, Darren McFadden, Charcandrick West, etc) HAVE to be claimed on waivers. I was fortunate to get McFadden when a couple of people ahead of me fell asleep or prioritized their waivers incorrectly and have been standing pat since then trying to move up again but I was still too far down the list for DeAngelo Williams. brotherbock 349 Posted November 5, 2015 Rolling order, definitely. You want a good priority, wait. You don't have to suck to get one.
Fighting 4 a Championship 0 Posted November 5, 2015 I'm in four leagues and they are all different. I don't like the worst record ranking, just because your team sucks doesn't mean you should go first. A free for all in one pisses me off, just because you get up at 2 am to find guys you want doesn't mean you should get them. The standard reverse order that one has blows, same guy gets first pick every week, it's never been me so I guess I'm jaded The one I like best starts out as reverse order of the draft (12-1), then each week everyone can put in claims, if you have a higher priority you get the player first, if someone else tried to claim that player, you drop to the bottom, same goes as the waiver claims are processed. You could go from having the 8th priority on waivers to 1st in a week if there are numerous players that people want. I like this one as it makes you think about how badly you want a particular player, is it worth dropping to the bottom. Sometimes it is. This one is more work for the commish, but with the amount of stuff the websites do for you, I don't think it's that bad.

I've commished on multiple host sites and the waiver process doesn't require any commish effort for any of the possible waiver/FA approaches. FAAB is by far the most fair, then rotating priority based on use, then inverse standings and free for all (I don't like either of those last two).
