MDC 5,967 Posted August 9, 2017 No but what it supports is that all these people who will lose health at when Obamacare is removed actually is a false narrative I appreciated the link - it was an interesting stat. My reply would be, do you really want to subsidize the HC costs of 20+ million people who voluntarily forgo insurance? These people are still going to get treated in the ER when it all goes south and we're all paying for it.

We pay the highest healthcare costs of any nation and they're still going up at an unsustainable rate with or without the ACA.

Living in California, I dont trust them to do anything right with my money we are also the only country that pay for illegals to have medical coverage

Living in California, I dont trust them to do anything right with my money we are also the only country that pay for illegals to have medical coverage A Free-market health-care system fundamentally based on insurance payments, doesn’t follow the usual rules of economics. Prices are not readily available upfront and patients lack the knowledge to evaluate complex diagnosis's with many constantly changing variables, quality of care, etc. etc. It's not like buying a car, where I can look at the same Toyota at two different dealerships and buy the one that is cheaper. Once you arrive at that basic conclusion, you will understand why every single other first world country has some sort of single payer/universal healthcare system. We are focked. no I just live in a state that promised the lottery would fix our schools, the lottery would help with infrastructure we just had our DMV registration raised 29% and gas taxes raised another 13cents on the gallon, to help pay for infrastructure (11% of money collected goes to that, and 75% goes into govt coffers as a managing agency) again I dont have a solution on healthcare, but healthcare in socialist countries has been horrible as well, but it somewhat works cause they dont have to pay for a military to protect every other country in the free world
Kanil 520 Posted August 10, 2017 we are also the only country that pay for illegals to have medical coverage Who pays for the illegals medical in those other countries? Do they just turn immigrants away at the emergency room because they don't have proof of citizenship? I'm sure that can't be the case and I'm sure the government foots the bill for that in those countries.

That's how the free market works. Which is fine for most things but not healthcare, not unless you're willing to let people go untreated and/or die simply because they can't afford insurance and/or deductibles and co-pays. Like, Slo Nuff uninformed. We could quibble about what is or is not a "free market" all day. Government regulation isn't why our system sucks and neither is the ACA. It's time to look at another model.
