Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted December 7, 2019 Why do people act like society used to be this way? People have always had a hard on to assume the guilt of others.

The general public has always been quick to judge. The only thing that is really different know is that we hear everyone's opinions more now than ever because of social media. Just because we never heard it from others 50 years ago doesn't mean those same opinions didn't exist. We now live in an age where it's more acceptable to openly voice your opinions on a world wide stage.
Fireballer 2,383 Posted December 7, 2019 Hence the phrase "guilty in the court of public opinion".
JustinCharge 2,397 Posted December 7, 2019 Its always been this way. The SMART powerful elites hide behind corporate structures, behind CEOs, behind Boardrooms, behind vice presidents, to the point where there are so many layers of bureaucracy that you don't know they exist. Its the smart play because the general public gossips and assumes guilt so once you are super rich your next move is to be invisible. Its also why they say that you have to be crazy to run for President. There is no upside to it and tons of downside. Anyone intelligent and apt enough to establish a well-run Presidency is instantly going to realize that it pays more and give them more power to set up a corporation somewhere and run their lives the way they want without being a target of hate. Trump probably figures he's got one foot in the grave anyway so he might as well go out with 8 years of fighting for something. A Trump said, "its a hateful life". And that makes organizations far too quick to take action like termination based on public opinion.

lickin_starfish 1,482 Posted December 7, 2019 " The general public has always been quick to judge. " This is why it is imperative for the Media to report fairly and responsibly, with no slant to the stories.
