I was responding to someone who said that the ‘24 hours’ promise was insignificant. Today Trump continues to try to wheedle some deal out if a guy who had no desire to end the war or even have peace in the sense of an agreement. He’s asked for no concessions from Putin while he continues to make absurd promises to his followers. He’s been doing this for 5 months. The more absurd the promises & hyped the pronouncements the more Trump has to offer from the ***US to seek what he wants. It makes a 1-10 rookie fantasy manager look good.

What Putin wants is not an end to the war or some xyz concession from Ukraine, he wants the US to halt aid to Ukraine. I will give Trump credit for not doing that so far, even so far as canceling Hegseth’s own illegal attempt to do so. I really hope I was wrong on this. It would please me to see Trump finally respond to the disrespect & humiliation Putin has piled on him & the USA by giving Ukraine what they need to March to the Azov.

If you're talking about the Biden 'as veg' claim. Yes actually I don't get angry online anymore,  or try no to, but that's a problem for me. It was also a problem for me when Trump's WH physician invented medical evaluations, and it was a problem for me when Trump went to Walter Reed for unknown reasons, it was a problem for me when Trump wrote his own medical report under his physician's signature during the 2016 campaign, and it was a problem for me when Trump's physicians required he take a mental health / dementia evaluation. So to me the solution here is Congress ought to pass a law requiring candidates and presidents disclose their medical information. But guess what the maga-GOP will never go for that and I suppose neither will the Dems. Which brings me back to why I don't really get angry online anymore.

But I'll say this much, give me the Biden 'as veg' answers over Ukraine in his debate with Trump rather than those of the Bad Man who Is Orange. Still then Biden was more intellectually, morally and emotionally capable.

Just to follow up on my point above this answer by Trump (in spoilers) is a good example of what I'm talking about. Aside from all the legitimate craziness going on here, one key aspect is Trump - someone out of office talking to a foreign enemy dictator - just takes Putin's POV at face value, believes it, ingests it like cud, then spits it out like fact. This is worse than being a vegetable, this is like a sort of kudzu or weed that just wraps itself into the very root of American foreign policy. (I'm glad to post Biden's).

Former President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin says he’ll only end this war if Russia keeps the Ukrainian territory it has already claimed and Ukraine abandons its bid to join NATO. As far as Russia and Ukraine, if we had a real President, the President that was respected by Putin, he would’ve never invaded Ukraine. A lot of people are dead right now, much more than people know. They talk about numbers. You can double those numbers, maybe triple those numbers, he did nothing to stop it. In fact, I think he encouraged Russia from going in. I’ll tell you what happened. He was so bad with Afghanistan, it was such a horrible embarrassment, most embarrassing moment in the history of our country that when Putin watched that and he saw the incompetence that he should have fired those generals like I fired the one that you mentioned.

And so he’s got no love lost, but he should have fired those generals. No general got fired for the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country, Afghanistan, where we left billions of dollars of equipment behind. We lost 13 beautiful soldiers and 38 soldiers were obliterated. And by the way, we left people behind too. We left American citizens behind. When Putin saw that, he said, you know what? I think we’re going to go in and maybe take my… This was his dream. I talked to him about it, his dream, the difference is he never would’ve invaded Ukraine, never, just like Israel would’ve never been invaded in a million years by Hamas. You know why? Because Iran was broke with me. I wouldn’t let anybody do business with them. They ran out of money, they were broke. They had no money for Hamas, they had no money for anything. No money for terror. The ceasefire was Putin’s idea. That’s why Zelensky was arguing with Trump & Vance. Zelensky pointed out that Putin had already broken a ceasefire agreement while Trump was President. But Zelensky agreed to the proposal. Then Trump said only *he could accomplish the ceasefire. After a 2 hour phone call Trump claims that Putin has agreed to negotiations towards a ceasefire, instead of the ceasefire, which is where two parties cease firing while they negotiate. And whereas Trump had been threatening getting super cereal with Russia by increasing sanctions, he came off the phone call offering more glorious trade deals with a country whose economy is most comparable to Mexico’s. It’s like watching some old person re-up their subscription to a telemarketing scam on their landline.

The amusing or hopeful thing is Ukraine’s accepting of the investment deal might keep the US supporting them & might further lead to Americans on the ground there.

I think we're both agreeing. Putin and Zelensky need to sit down and hammer this out. Otherwise Zelensky risks losing Ukraine all together.  It's really not our call. All we can do is get them to the table.

Putin doesn't want a deal with Zelensky.  He has to be forced into one.  We do that with strength.  Trump is choosing weakness.
