With the years idea being voted out, I'm wondering how that affects the programs that overlap decades. It was clean cut before, now not so much. If we couldn't do both and had to choose, I'd take years over genre, but that's not what the group wants so...

My 2 cents...I am good with the categories. 70s and 80s are fine. Since it is not clean, use you best judgement. I just looked at a 80s show list. Seinfeld was in there cause it debuted in July of 1989. This is not an 80s show, its a 90s show. The same could occur with 60s show that ended in 1970. Draft in good faith, and avoid these scenarios.

Seinfeld was perfectly legitimate top shelf pick in the date draft where everything was clear cut, but you guys wrecked that and made it a judgement call. Now it's controversial because the front and back end years of the draft overlap into the void. Half the people will consider it highly, the other half won't consider it at all.

I have an idea... we can fix this fringe stuff for good by jiggering things around a bit more by adding some new categories.

How about this...

6 sitcoms , 4 action, 4 drama, 3 hodgepodge, 2 Coming out of the 60s, 2 going into the 90s,  2 cartoons, 3 wildcards.

this is where using good judgement comes in...no one in their right mind should consider Seinfeld an 80s show.
