RIP Vida Blue

Recommended Posts

First of only five pitchers to start an all-star game for both the AL and NL.  I was like 4 the last year he pitched for the Royals, but did start collecting baseball cards around his last years in the league.

Just think, he pitched his worst in a Royals uniform...

Great name but I'm a Reds fan so didn't like them back in the early 70s.

I started following baseball around 1972/73 at the age of 5 or 6, and I liked the A's because they were really good and my friend's older sister liked them and was a fan of Reggie Jackson, and she was super cool!  Blue was the ace of a great staff/team.  I was too young to really appreciate him, but I associate his name with that era.  RIP Vida.

Blue was a stud during my earliest memories of baseball.

RIP Vida

If memory serves, he had some pretty awesome Strat-O-Matic cards with the Athletics...  I know that his 1971 card was a beast...
