I understand your sentiment, but the reason we love our country is the reason people are risking their lives to get here.  What I want instead of ignorant Trump rhetoric is some honest aldult talk about how many we can realistically accept, what the cost/benefit is, and go from there.  Instead we have both sides profitting off these people while one side pretends there is no downside, and the other pretends there is no benefit while nothing of consequence is addressed.

Mostly they are- they are just using our broken asylum system, but it a legal way to get in.  Most aren't running from agents and truly entering illegaly.

Some did.   There was a bit of the unknown with the other rules being implemented.   I'd guess more where hesitant to try their luck with how strictly they will be enforced. 

If true, I doubt this trend stays either.   It's not a long term solution and it didn't address our broken asylum system.    Even if it's enforced well, it doesn't apply to Mexicans, and there isn't any shortage of them wanting to get in either.    IMO at the most we will see is a dip then numbers right back where they were - all that will happen is that the people coming in will be from a different country.
