Could You Pass Army Physical Requirements?

Recommended Posts

Never timed myself so I GIS mapped my neighborhood for today's run.

1 mile in 10 minutes, 5 seconds

Didn't walk any of it.

I felt like I may have had a topic on this years ago about what events we could actually beat Special Olympics kids in. And I think we listed like the times and results of things and it wasn’t very many. Lol.

so I’m guessing marine shiit is probably even worse

I'm in the Excellent/Outstanding range

APFT Standards – Male (Ages 37-41)

Level of Performance  Points  Push-Ups  Sit-Ups  2 Mile Run
Maximum 100 73 76 13:36
Outstanding 90 63 67 14:48
Excellent 75 49 52 16:30
Good 60 34 38 18:18
Satisfactory Medium 50 24 29 19:30
Probationary 45 19 24 20:06

I may use this as some training goals.  Before my cancer I could have done the max pushups and situps easily; the run would be the challenge -- I could do a 9 minute pace for 4 miles (training for the Pat's Run which is 4.2 miles), but never pushed a 2 mile number.  I wonder how many pushups I could do now without my pec major muscle on my left side (I may try tomorrow).

We got any Army Rangers?

Physical and health conditions yes. Push ups, sit ups, pull ups and hike - yes.

I’d fail at the run and probably the swim.

They don’t use the APFT anymore. They use the ACFT. The run time is slower, but there are 6 events now.

What are the minimum and maximum scores for each ACFT event?

(The following is for males 17-21 - use the calculator or reference above for more)

  • 3RM Maximum Deadlift (MDL) - Min: 140lbs  Max: 340lbs

  • Standing Power Throw (SPT) - Min: 6m  Max: 12.6m

  • Hand-Release Push-Up (HRPU) - Min: 10  Max: 57

  • Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC) - Min: 2:28  Max: 1:29

  • Plank hold (PLK)  - Min: 1:30  Max: 3:40

  • 2-Mile Run (2MR) - Min: 22:00  Max: 13:22

Thanks.  I skimmed through some of the training links; I like how they differentiate strength and power, along with other components of fitness for an overall assessment.

I would on a good day be in the good/excellent range. PU, SU , and running I’d be right on the cusp. I couldn’t do pull ups or climb the rope, or do the pegs. Even in my twenties. I wonder what the marines gauge is?
