Hardcore troubadour 14,941 Posted June 20, 2023 It’s sad that these two sit atop the pile. Hannity should be nothing more than a local radio guy and Newsome should be nothing more than one of the many idle rich guys that cut checks to get their political jollies. Im not going to tell you there aren’t big problems in San Francisco. Of course there are. But you want to blame all of them in liberal policies, whixh is pretty stupid since it’s been a liberal city forever, with many of the mayors far more leftist than Gavin Newsom. SF will be OK. As a Californian, what ideas and policies from Newsome do you like?

SF has the 2nd most Michelin-starred restaurants in US behind NYC. They definitely need to get the area around Union Square cleaned up. The remote workers is going to be a real issue for them to figure out.

It's mostly homeless and that city allows people to literally set up tents on the sidewalk. It's a LAW.

It's a LAW. So we have moved on from the restaurants all moved out. That’s good. For the homeless issue, I don’t know their laws. I’d suggest not allow camping on the streets or in the city parks and cars must be moved in reasonable time. Say three days. That’s what I want to have happen if I lived there. Good ideas but they are too far beyond that point now. SF is still ok for tourists if they maneuver around and know where to go. We were there last summer and it was disgusting in so many areas. The city has world class potential but is a mess and too far gone.

I haven’t been there for a few years but when I was there it was great and was always a favorite place to go (when someone else is paying preferably ) The city has all the different neighborhoods and is such a cool setting. I think it will always attract people there. That it is dominated by the tech field and the effects of remote work post Covid is going to be a huge issue. In the case of Yelp and Uber your article says it’s rumors. But yes remote work has shifted things and made things possible they were not a reality pre-pandemic. ChatGPT is among the hundreds of startups in the Bay Area and it is still the top area for tech startups. But again this has changed a bit which is probably for the better. Not sure which big cities you’d place above SF or bet on long term, newgirl.

Well first off I love the moves taken since Roe was overturned to protect women. I like his policies to protect undocumented immigrants from needless persecution. I like the water desalination plant push (the environmentalists hate that, but in the end they won’t stop it) and the new water agreement signed with Nevada. I’m in favor of the judicial reform moves and disagree with many here that they lead to more violent crime. Beyond all this I love what Newsom and the Democrats DON’T do: they don’t persecute transgenders, or teenagers. They don’t censor books or interfere with teachers. They don’t attempt to punish corporations for disagreeing with them. This is all off the top of my head; I’m probably missing a lot.
