It is a hobby for many people. Same as reading books, watching TV, or playing video games in the evening. It would be easy to post ~50-100 times a day if that was your hobby.

Cushy jobs. Gotta be available, but not put in tons of hours. I'll retire in my 50s. I hate the consulting world but it has paid well. And I worked my ass off for about 18 years.

You are wrong. Completely. It's time to kill. Having to be online and available throughout the day but join a few meetings and send out a couple deliverables and managing people that don't need much managing is not hard when you know what you are doing and it allows time to do nothing except be online in case of an urgent matter.

You are talking foolishly at this point. 

There are perks to knowing what you are doing and skilled at managing other people's time. 

I was a grunt once like you. I worked 24x7 for many years. Now I got what I put in 1000s of hours of sweat and stress into my work for.
