Solid is the word I'm thinking of.  but we dont have to agree.

He was better than solid when he was healthy.  He played almost every game of his career before the new passing rules... and he currently ranks 11th all time in completion percentage.  Here's the list of the top 10... take note of how many played their entire career post-2007:

1    Joe Burrow    68.2%    2020-2022    cin
2    Drew Brees    67.7%    2001-2020    2TM
3    Jimmy Garoppolo    67.6%    2014-2022    2TM
4    Deshaun Watson    67.0%    2017-2022    2TM
5    Justin Herbert    66.9%    2020-2022    sdg
6    Kirk Cousins    66.8%    2012-2022    2TM
Kyler Murray    66.8%    2019-2022    crd
8    Dak Prescott    66.6%    2016-2022    dal
9    Teddy Bridgewater    66.4%    2014-2022    5TM
10    Patrick Mahomes    66.3%    2017-2022    kan

He ranks 28th all-time in passer rating.  Of the 27 ahead of him, 18 are current players, and of the other 9, 4 are in the hall of fame with Brady, Big Ben, Brees, and potentially Rivers, in the future.

point made.

sometimes when you look back in time you forget exactly which years the guy played. and can over (or under) estimate how good they were relative to their peers at the time.

Maybe about Tony Romo level?

If he had been healthy that is, something along those lines.

I think Pennington had the highest completion % in NFL history when he retired. That's about it, but still, pretty impressive.

I think go to to the Hall, he would have had to win a Super Bowl or two. I don't see that on the Jets. I don't think he was quite good enough to lead them to one without a great deal of help.

I think if Romo had won a ring, there's a fair chance he would make the HOF.

Funny to see Bridgewater on that list.  Completion percentage, is one of those stats that can be misleading if a QB is in an offense with a lot of dump-off throws and screen passes or is too careful with respect to not throwing into tight windows, etc.

It can be, but when you look at the list of pre-2008 QB's, at lot of the top guys who had long careers, are Hall of Famers.

that's the thing.  the pass game has evolved.   QB's go for the high percentage plays a lot more often.   I am not surprised to see Bridgewater on the list because he does a lot of the dink and dunk passing.

problem with him is too often we saw a stat line of 25 completions out of 35 attempts but only like 240 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.   ok but not spectacular.  and that does not make for a great QB.

Is anyone really sold on Love being a good enough QB able to keep Watson consistently relevant?

I’m not to sure one can be, without him performing in regular season games.  It’s a tough situation for Watson owners.

Yes. His passes were all on point and even very impressive in tight windows when he led the Packers on a TD drive in their most recent preseason game. I'm drafting Watson for sure, and Love as my backup QB, maybe Doubs too if he's cheap enough.
